1 out of 5 eggs first boot sucks, no audio 04/27/2012

This review is from: ASUS P9X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: good overclocking
good bios
good software
lots of fan plugs
plenty of space between slots
I actually like my troublesome board

Cons: first boot sucks so be prepared to flash updated bios
that's the first thing you have to do
if it didn't work, start troubleshooting, gl rofl
What I really hate is the integrated sound doesn't work
it didn't detect the speakers with latest asus drivers
installed drivers direct from realtek and the speakers show up, still no plug detecting and obviosly no sound

Other Thoughts: i'm buying a sound card anyway so i don't care

I reallyu like asus and overclocking is great

if i had to choose again, I would try abit or msi

Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BL 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: cools cpu fine
can do crazy overclocks
variable rpms

Cons: this thing is too big
I am currently blocking a pci-e slot but I guess I could move 1 fan to the other side of the heat sink
don't even think of getting the 3rd fan in there
transparent lids are useless since the heatsink is the only thing you can see
oh, i have a full tower

Other Thoughts: water cooling is better and smaller, except for h100 huge radiator which i could not fit
any way, i chose air cooling because i had a leak on an old water cooling
reviews say its close to water cooling so your choice

but really.... this thing is too big
