Speedy Little Hub

Tek Republic TUH-3400 Aluminum USB 3.0 4 Port Hub with 3A Power Adapter
Tek Republic TUH-3400 Aluminum USB 3.0 4 Port Hub with 3A Power Adapter

Pros: * small an dportable * works without power adapter * includes power adapter * fast file transfer

Cons: * bright red and green lights

Overall Review: I really like this little USB hub. It’s small enough to carry in a pocket and includes a power adapter. I’ve never had a hub this small come with a power adapter. Can it work without a power adapter? Sure. Small things like memory cards and flash drives will have no problem using bus power alone. A power adapter simply gives it more oomph for those power hungry devices. You know you need it if the hub shuts down when you plug something in. A power adapter helps prevent this from happening. Alternatively, use the power adapter to turn the hub into a charging station when the computer is off. This USB 3.0 hub has given me no trouble at all. I have my SDHC card reader, my fingerprint reader, my Bluetooth dongle, and my Logitech Universal Receiver on in it right now. No problems, which is amazing considering the Logitech Universal Receiver is doesn’t often work on USB 3.0 ports. Speed is great. I transferred a 1.71 GB file to a class 10 SDHC card via a USB 3.0 card reader in 2 minutes, 2 seconds. The only drawback is the bright red and green lights. If you have it in a bedroom, it might be a problem. Otherwise, it’s a great hub. This product was provided for review by TekRepublic.

Fast, Versatile Card Reader

Tek Republic TUC-300 USB 3.0 Supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, Micro SD (t-Flash), MS, MS Pro, MS Duo, MS Pro Duo, and MSXC. 12-in-1 Card Reader
Tek Republic TUC-300 USB 3.0 Supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, Micro SD (t-Flash), MS, MS Pro, MS Duo, MS Pro Duo, and MSXC. 12-in-1 Card Reader

Pros: + reads 12 different cards + USB 3.0 compatible + portable size

Cons: - cannot read all 12 cards at once - cannot read micro SDHC and SDHC card at the same time

Overall Review: I don't have twelve different cards to throw at this card reader, but I do have a micro SDHC card, an SDHC card, and a Memory Stick Pro. The reader failed to work on the front USB 3.0 port of my office computer, but I think my tower is having issues. It does work on the rear USB 3.0 ports of my tower and on the USB 3.0 port of my kitchen computer. It has no problems when connected to USB 3.0 hubs connected to USB 3.0 compatible ports. Transfer speed is fast. I can transfer a 1.71 GB file to my class 10 SDHC card in 1 minute, 28 seconds. The only issue I have is it will not recognize both the micro SDHC card and the SDHC card at the same time. It will recognize both the Memory Stick Pro and either a micro SDHC card or SDHC card. There are only three slots, so it's twelve different types of cards it can read, but not twelve different cards at once. The supported memory cards are as follows: * SD * SDHC * SDXc * RS-MMC * Mobile-MMC * MMC-micro MS, * MS-Pro * MS-Duo * MSPro-HG Duo 8Bit mode * Micro-MS(M2) If you have a lot of different memory cards and no native readers on your computer, this is a good product to have around. Thank Heavens It Worked

Pros: * it works * doesn't harm dogs * comes with belt clip

Cons: * not disabling (may not work against the most severely aggressive dogs)

Overall Review: A pit bull and some other mean looking dog came running down the street towards me and my dog today. I knew they were coming after us, so I turned around and pulled out my Petsafe Sprayshield. When I looked back, they had my little cocker spaniel surrounded, growling and barking. A fight was imminent and she didn't have a chance. I sprayed, and they immediately turned tail and ran. Thank Heavens, it worked. There's still more spray left in the can, but I won't chance that it would be enough for next time. I'm keeping a full bottle with me always.

Good for a Class 4 Card

V7 32 GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) - 1 Card - Retail
V7 32 GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) - 1 Card - Retail

Pros: * works well, no glitches

Cons: * much slower than more newer models (higher class)

Overall Review: I used this V7 SDHC class 4 card in my HD camcorder. Photos and videos store on it just fine. I haven't had any problems. The only thing that concerns me is it's a class 4 card. Most people are now using at least a class 6 or higher. The difference is the speed of transferring large amounts of data. When I move a 1.71 GB file to the class 4 card, it takes 4 minutes and 53 seconds. With a class 6 card (the next level up), it takes 2 minutes and 7 seconds. A class 10 card would do even better. If you don't intend to transfer lots of data at once, this card is a good card. If you need speed, go with a higher class. This product was provided for review by Ingram Micro.

Lots of Uses for These Gold Coins

Casino Coins 1.375" 144/Pkg-Gold W/Vine Border & Dollar Sign
Casino Coins 1.375" 144/Pkg-Gold W/Vine Border & Dollar Sign

Pros: * durable plastic * too big to choke on (larger than a half dollar)

Cons: * none I can think of

Overall Review: I bought these coins for my son's birthday party. They are lightweight shiny gold plastic, a little larger than a half dollar. I don't see little ones choking on them. They make great party favors or use them as play money for a store or as pirate treasure.

She's a Better Walker

Puppia PUAC30BRMD Harness - Soft Brown Medium
Puppia PUAC30BRMD Harness - Soft Brown Medium

Pros: * soft * comfortable * attractive

Cons: * neck size not adjustable

Overall Review: Following everyone else's advice, I measured my cocker spaniel's head circumference instead of her neck. That came in at 13 inches, so I took the large, since medium was listed at 12.5 inches. Her chest girth is 20 inches. That's adjustable and fits perfectly on her. The neck area looks a little loose, though. Maybe I should have gone for medium. The material is a little stretchy, so it probably would have fit just fine. My dog will normally walk at my feet around the house. I wish she would do that on our walks around the block, but having a leash on her collar seems to all of a sudden make her want to pull ahead. Dog obedience training has helped a lot with that, but she doesn't quite do the walk at my feet thing. My dog has also been diagnosed with leash aggression, which we are working on. The trainer showed me how when the leash is pulled even just a little, she gets very aggressive with other dogs. I can't just walk her leash-free, and it's going to take a lot of training to get this out of her, even with a trainer's help. My neighbor suggested a harness, maybe she doesn't like the tugging on her neck. With this harness, she is much improved. She is much more at my side. She still tries to attack other dogs, but she's unpredictable in that way. The change to a harness hasn't helped that. I like the soft material. My dog looks comfortable in it. The beige color goes well with her red coat so she looks good in it. The harness takes a little work to put on her than just using her collar. It's much like putting on a shirt. If I'm just going out for a quick walk, I just use the collar. For her longer walks, I use this harness and I've been very happy with how well she walks.
