1 out of 5 eggs Disgruntled with Seagate 09/21/2014

This review is from: Seagate Expansion 3TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STBV3000100 Black

Pros: None

Cons: My original drive died within a year. The replacement died last night. I am going through the RMA process with SEAGATE yet again. I have absolutely no confidence with their products. I had two other 3TB internal drives die too.

Seagate Expansion 3TB USB 3.0 3.5

Pros: It died within my warranty period.

Cons: The fact that it died at all. I bought this drive to back up my data from a Synology DS412+ NAS. It failed a SIMPLE test last night so I am currently dealing with Seagate's warranty department.

Antec Gaming Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0

Pros: No complaints with the case, very happy with it and Newegg's quick shipping.

Cons: I purchased my case in 2008 when Newegg was advertising a $40 rebate. It was shipped with no problems and I immediately mailed out the rebate information. I never received my rebate though. I emailed the customer service point of contact on the rebate form and they told me to forward all inquiries to Antec. No other information was provided.

What they didn't tell me what that the rebate company handling Antec's rebate submissions has subsequently filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Only after repeatedly asking about the status of my rebate did I finally find this out. I then resubmitted everything directly to Antec.

Two months after resubmitting everything, I am still out the $40 and Antec does not reply to email inquiries regarding the status of my submission.

This kind of customer service doesn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzies.

Other Thoughts: In short, if you can purchase the case at the price you like WITHOUT a rebate, you're golden. If Antec is advertising a rebate, don't hold your breath. You will more than likely never see the rebate.
