Transcend JetFlash 500 4GB: THE BEST ( I could find)
Pros: Transcend JetFlash 500 4GB _Great support: manuals, software, etc. _Attractive.....feels good....first class quality. _LED on top: flashes when writing _FAST: faster than posted specs... ....12 MB/s write, 30 MB/s read over first 3.5 GB _Retractable: no cap to loose _Lanyard hole in end...but very small _Nice price...a bargain
Cons: NONE
Overall Review: Finally found small flash drive with the features I want. Bought these to use for boot drives....no more floppy. 'Would be nice gifts...worth buying a hand-full.
Rosewill RNA-SYM 2.1 Speaker: Convenient
Pros: Rosewill RNA-SYM 2.1 Speaker (one piece) _very convenient as desktop speakers.. ......all in one piece...one cord (USB2 included) _great stereo sound at normal listening levels.... ....good base sound _attractive..well made
Cons: No volume control on speaker so use Desktop volume, player volume, keyboard mute, etc.
Overall Review: It fits under the monitor and does not fall off the cart like the multi piece, multi wire setups. Thanks to Rosewill for the nice USB cable.
Sumsung SH-S243N Support
Pros: _It is Samsung and I have always had good results with their drives. _Price _Good support at Samsung OOD: http://www.samsungodd.com/Eng/main2.asp _2MB buffer
Cons: Difficult to find support and specs for this mod. Google search <samsung SH-S243N support> and scroll far down the page.
Overall Review: samsung.com and newegg should link to this support for OOD (optical disc drives) www.samsungodd.com
BEARD & HAIR TRIMMER: 2xAA Powered
Pros: BEARD & HAIR TRIMMER: 2xAA Powered I have used one exactly like this for five years. Mine is Norelco, ACU-CONTROL, T500, Black (not clear). It works and I like it. Rechargable AAx2 last more than one hour. It works as a long hair clipper over a comb, but the spacer fills and clogs in long hair. Sometimes use it as an electric razor.
Cons: Only that the spacer fills with long hair but without the spacer, over a comb, it works like a clipper and cuts well.
G.SKILL Ripjaws with AM3, Phenom II 550, ATI 785G
Pros: RE: G.SKILL Ripjaws, Model F3-16000CL9D-4GBRH with: _GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H AM3 AMD/ATI 785G _AM3 Phenom II X2 550 (BE) Callisto 3.1GHz PERFECT: Boots to BIOS default at DDR1300 T1. _Manually set to SPD to DDR1600, CL8, T1.
Cons: NONE for G.Skill. I am still trying to figure out the GA-785G BIOS.
Overall Review: G.Skill presale tech support was the best of five others. DDR compatibility for AMD depends on the CPU/setpping and not much on the MOBO or BIOS. Newegg: PERFECT Packing and Shipping !.... ...received next day by UPS....NJ to MD.
G.Skill "Ripjaws" WILL WORK WITH AM3 !
Pros: According to G.Skill email support: The G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL is our new memory technology so you may want to consider that as well since it is also $15 cheaper. There has not been any direct comparisons, so I can not be sure of actual performance differences, but I'm sure either would work great on your AM3 platform. All of the Ripjaws Series memory packages will work with your AM3 platform. If you purchase the F3-15000CL9D-4GBRH, you will have the option of operating DDR3-1866 or DDR3-1600. At 1600, you may lower the timings to enhance performance. Any of the packages we have stated will be fast for your setup. According to Mushkin tele support: the issue of intell memory not working on AMD processors is the actual memory chip and the manufacturer (not BIOS or SPD).
Cons: NONE
Overall Review: Thanks to Newegg for their GREAT website for researching PC system builds. Without the Mfgr info I would not have found the support resources to become more informed on memory issues.
