Intel BOXDH61DLB3 LGA 1155 Intel H61 USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
  • Owned For: less than 1 day

5 out of 5 eggs Got one needed feature and one non-needed 05/23/2011

This review is from: Intel BOXDH61DLB3 LGA 1155 Intel H61 USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I don't own this board yet, but I'm seriously considering because of the Pro below, y'know.

As near as I can tell, the only socket 1155 mini-ITX board with a PCI express X1 socket rather than an X16 socket. This makes very good sense to me given that the Intel on-board video is supposed to be good enough that you don't need to add on a video board in an X16 socket (unless you're a mondo gamer, which I'm not). I want an X1 socket for a firewire expansion card: it's getting harder to find firewire on PC boards and I've got a high-end audio interface that requires it.

Cons: What the #&(*#$^ are they thinking putting a parallel printer port on this board? Sheesh: what are you going to find to plug into that these days? And why no HDMI video out port?

MSI P6NGM-FIH LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7150 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

4 out of 5 eggs Better Options Available 05/06/2008

This review is from: MSI P6NGM-FIH LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7150 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Feels very fast with Core2 Duo e8400. Can't comment on 3D graphics speed since I'm not a gamer, but response is otherwise very nice.

Cons: Doesn't have DVI port. Doesn't have dual-channel memory support. Doesn't have optical S/PDIF digital audio out. All of the above are supported by GIGABYTE GA-73PVM-S2H at about same price. Also manual is very poorly written with misleading instructions about how to get into RAID setup. I could have sworn that the product description when I read it said it had a DVI port, and others are saying that the description said it supported dual channel RAM.

Other Thoughts: Go with GIGABYTE GA-73PVM-S2H instead.
