This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: I purchased this motherboard as the foundation for a dual-boot "Hackintosh" and Windows 7 machine. I did extensive research into what motherboards, chipsets, and other hardware were compatible with a vanilla installation of OSX, and this motherboard has not failed me.
It has more options than I know what to do with, and it makes overclocking a breeze. There are extensive instructions available on the internet that will let you overclock a Core i7 to 4.0 Ghz on air-cooling. I run mine at 3.87 Ghz, and have yet to feel it slow.
This thing is SOLID. The PCB is THICK and sturdy and the board just feels like a slab of steel. It's awesome!
Lots of USB ports, and all the other expansion ports one could need.
Cons: A little more expensive than some other boards, but you really do get what you pay for...
Other Thoughts: Buy this board.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: This screen is amazing. Visually stunning, both when turned on and off. It is the cornerstone of any serious system. The picture is bright, clear, crisp... sharp... any of those adjectives that make you think "WOW! This thing is sweet!!" I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone... from the most (or least) dedicated CAD-monkey, to the high-end gamer. I love this screen.
Cons: The speakers sound a little "thin", so for an audiophile, the built-in speakers won't cut it. But let's be honest, any "true audiophile" will have a 6.1 or 7.1 hi-definition, surrond sound system.
The only other "con" that I've come across is that the base isn't height adjustable and the bottom edge of the screen sits about 4 inches above the surface it's sitting on. Not really a con, as it places the center of the screen at eye-level (I guess, depending on your setup-mine was at eye level). It would've been nice to have some sort of height adjustment, but for now a small elevated stand will do it.
Other Thoughts: Don't hesitate to buy this thing... You will absolutely, positively, not regret it. The CNet reviews don't do it justice. This monitor is simply spectacular.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I purchased this RAM kit as an upgrade for my HP DV9074CL. Originally it had two 512MB sticks in it, and at 1GB felt a little sluggish at times. After doing some (inconclusive) research, I decided to take a (small) gamble on getting this upgrade, as opposed to just 2GB, and boy did it pay off!!
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and the machine just flies. Boot times were dramatically decreased and everything just feels really snappy.
I would recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade, just make sure you do some research on your machine to confirm it can handle this much mem. Mine is now maxed out at 2GB/slot.
Cons: None, so far.
Other Thoughts: Not really a con with the memory kit, but... I can't replace to dual-core Turion processor in my computer. It's the only thing holding this four-year old machine back from getting a 4.8 rating in the Windows Experience index. This RAM increased my memory status from a 3.2 (second lowest behind the processor) to a 4.8!! Now if the processor would get more than a 2.7, I'd be stoked!!READ FULL REVIEW
