3 out of 5 eggs Great computer, but Linux support is lacking 07/10/2014

This review is from: OEM Production 2550L2D-MxPC Intel NM10 2 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel GMA 3650 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System

Pros: Nice little computer, good for routers and so forth

Cons: SATA power cable is NOT long enough to reach from the power plug on the motherboard to the drive itself. Apparently they never checked before they supplied the cable. You will probably need an additional fan for the case, which is not provided. The EverCool EC5010M12CA fits perfectly. ALSO, if you want to install Linux, there are NO GRAPHICS DRIVERS that support hardware acceleration whatsoever. This is the GMA 3650 integrated graphics, aka "CedarView," which is NOT actually made by Intel, but rather made my PowerVR and included in the Intel chipset. PowerVR does not release any Linux drivers nor provide any open source support. Also, if you check Intel's site, it seems that they also have not/will not provide Windows 8 graphics drivers either. So, buyer beware!!

Other Thoughts: Good for basic routers and so forth, but driver support is lacking or non-existent. Check this before you buy!

4 out of 5 eggs Watch the memory specs..USES SO-DIMM! 09/12/2012

This review is from: Foxconn R10-i4000 Intel Atom D2500 (1.86GHz, dual core) Intel NM10 Intel GMA 3600 1 x HDMI Barebone

Pros: Nice options for the price. Has an HDMI port and a PCI slot.

Cons: Uses SO-DIMM laptop memory! BE AWARE OF THIS! This seems completely unnecessary.

  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Haven't even turned it on yet, but I'm sure it runs great

Cons: The case dimensions are actually 11.1 x 12.5 x 3.74 inches, which is an inch an a half bigger than the specs state. There is also a metal tab sticking out the back an additional .5 inches, making the case 13 inches long.
