This review is from: G.SKILL 2.5" 32GB SATA II SLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) FS-25S2-32GB
Pros: Quite and Fairly quick
Cons: Price, and Size
Other Thoughts: First let me say I would give 5 eggs for a laptop setup 3 for a desktop so I averaged it out to 4. I put two of these in raid 0 thinking just to try it out, it was only $200 more than 2 Velociraptor's. The performance is about equal to 2 Velociraptor's, I used a buddies setup to compare benchmarks of the disk with the G.Skill SSDs I avg. 155 MB/s Read and 78 MB/s write (0.2 ms access time). My buddies Raid 0 Veloci setup gets 140 Read and 100 Write (7.0 ms access time). Not bad but not worth the extra $200 in my opinion.
For a laptop I think this would be a no brainier if you don't need a ton of space you will get about the same performance as a Velociraptor , however for a desktop I would save the $100 to $200 and go with the Velociraptor or wait for the Intel x25-e to come down to a more reasonable price.
Intel Core i7 920
6GB Cosair Triple Channel DDR-1600
EVGA gtx260 superclocked
EVGA x58 mobo
2x G.Skill SSDs (64 GB 128 KB Stripe)
WD 7200 RPM 400 GB
Pros: Quite running drive. Performance is on par with other SATA drives of this size.
Cons: Had one die on me after only a day of use. Lucky I had them in a RAID 1 config so no big deal.
Other Thoughts: had no problems RMAing the dead drive back to Newegg and they got the new drive in about 5 days. Thanks Newegg!!READ FULL REVIEW
