1 out of 5 eggs Constant BSODs after firmware update 01/17/2012

This review is from: Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, quiet. Good battery life for my laptop.

Cons: After four months of perfectly fine operation, I started getting BSODs and file I/O errors every few weeks (Win7 Pro x64). Updated firmware from 0002 to 0309, and in the last 24 hours I've had at least 6 BSODs.

Other Thoughts: RMA'ing. I can't trust this drive to store critical information. I would definitely NOT recommend this drive to anyone.

I have a Crucial C300 in my desktop, which has run flawlessly since day one-- go for one of those instead.

2 out of 5 eggs Blue screened in Win7 Pro 01/13/2012

This review is from: Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast, quiet, low heat output. Good things to have for a laptop drive.

Cons: This drive has blue screened on me twice in the last four months, in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I've also gotten File I/O errors. I never had any of these issues with the previous (standard platter-based) drive.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if this is a driver or firmware issue, but the drive's being removed from my laptop. I don't trust it to be stable when going on business trips where I'm unable to just swap it out in a failure scenario.

MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Works great for most things. Easily got my i7-2600k up to 4.2GHz with no problems.

Cons: Looks kind of silly and "military grade" claims are absurd, but that seems to describe most motherboards these days.

More importantly, the ethernet port never worked.

Recently expanded my RAM from 2x4GB to 4x4GB, populating all four slots. With all four DIMMs installed, computer gets stuck in a boot loop. Removing the DIMM installed in the fourth slot allows booting as normal. Not acceptable.

Other Thoughts: I got this board right when the first B3's hit the market. MSI must have been in a serious hurry to push these out the door, because there are some serious quality concerns about this product. My previous two builds were ASUS boards, and if I can't get MSI to man up and fix this one, I'm going right back to ASUS to replace this one too.
