Pros: Inside is a perfectly good 500 GB SATA drive. Ever since I took it out of the enclosure, I've been using it as an internal drive with no problems.
Cons: Buggy USB-SATA bridge. When writing large files, the transfer would periodically freeze for about 30 sec and Linux would report an I/O error. Sometimes it would completely lock up and require unplugging from USB. The same problem occurred on Windows.
At first I thought it was just not getting enough power (my PC has only USB2, not USB3), so I tried a Y-cable (which takes power from 2 USB ports at once), but that made no difference.
Pros: * Speed as advertised: 200 MB/s read, 40 MB/s write
* Good random-access performance - great for ReadyBoost
Cons: * One of these failed after about 3 months of occasional use. I plugged it in and Windows would not detect it - the light just kept blinking. After plugging it into my Linux machine, the system log reported the USB device resetting every 300 ms, along with I/O errors on sector 0. Definitely seems like a dead controller, rather than Flash wear-out.
Other Thoughts: I have bought a total of 5 of these in the past year, and 4 of them are still working - not too bad as far as flash drives go.READ FULL REVIEW

Pros: * Works as expected.
* Type A female connector works with any USB device. Most other Y-cables have a male type B, mini-B or micro-B, which only fits devices with that particular port.
Cons: * Too short - not even close to the stated 3.28 ft. I know that signal quality can degrade with length, but why not make the power-only branch longer? Around 10 ft would be perfect - that way you could plug the power end into a second computer if the first one doesn't supply enough power.
* Only helps if plugged into 2 independently powered USB ports. Does nothing if both ports are on the same power line, where the total current consumed by both ports is limited to e.g. 500 mA.
