Pros: Love the speed and the promised durability. Put into a Dell 5000 series laptop (5559) replacing a 1GIG spinning drive. The results are night-and-day. Other than me being too stupid to figure out the software, I am more than happy.
Cons: OK, I guess I'm stupid, but I could not get the transfer software to work.... well, I guess work the way I wanted it. I wanted a complete clone, but I could not figure it out. It said it transferred the data, but then the laptop BIOS would freak out with the SSD cloned data and not load from the HDD. I had to load Win10 clean from a USB stick to the drive and that seemed to work. Wish I could have had a clean copy, but loading 10 from scratch wasn't bad. Boots, shuts down, constant Win10 updates don't slow the laptop down any more.
Other Thoughts: Five Stars for the drive, but not sure about the software. It could be I have no idea what I'm doing, or that the software doesn't do something right for UEFI stuff. I love the drive and apparently Samsung has a lot of faith in this technology. I am quite satisfied with the speed. This SSD is thinner than the 1GIG spinning drive it replaced, so you may have to get a spacer or mini-cage for it.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Works at speed advertised. BIOS picked it right up and CPU-Z confirms the timings. No clearance issues in laptop.
Cons: Was not free.
Other Thoughts: I have had no issues swapping out the 11 CL RAM that came with the laptop. These come together, so I guess the are a matched pair. Dell 5000/5559 has no problems with these running at the rated CL9 speed. Used CPU-Z to verify timings. Laptop is "quicker" now because it has 16G RAM.... well that, and I put a SSD in the laptop as well !!!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Should have known. Made in China. Returning to Seagate under warranty. Purchased 4/9/15, would not spin up on 4/21/16. Was used for an external hard drive, so now I'm a little miffed. Should have bought a WD Black. I purchased a cheap hard drive and that is what I received. Can't fault NewEgg...
Cons: Lasted about one year in an external drive enclosure. Very disappointed. Purchase price is exactly what I got... cheap. Returning to Seagate under warranty, but I have to pay shipping for the product to be swapped. Should have bought a WD Black....never had a problem with WD Black models _ever_.
Other Thoughts: I hope you have better luck than me. When it worked, it worked great. Just would not spin up one day. No warning, no noises. Just wouldn't spin up. I guess I'm old school and expect a hard drive to last for at least 5+ years...READ FULL REVIEW
