Other Thoughts: Posted in response to incorrect post below re: link speed on Macs. Obviously, your computer needs to be able to negotiate at 3 Gigabit. Many older MacBooks and MacBook Pros can not. In MacPros, you'd still need a 6Gb PCIe expansion to take advantage of 6Gb speeds. Use http://mactracker.ca to look up what machine and connections you actually have, if in doubt. Hope this helps.
