D-Link DCS-5009L Pan/Tilt Day/Night Motion Detection Wireless Cloud IP Camera
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: I gave myself a "high" tech rating, having owned 7 of these cameras - ALL D-LINK. I found no significant difference between this DSC-5009L and DSC-5010L, except the price.

Cons: If you are running Mac OS Yosemite and plan on using your Macbook Pro to set this up with a FIOS Quantum Gateway Router and zero configuration (D-Link software), you may encounter difficulties. I tried using Windows 7 running on Parallels 9, but that didnt help. It could not locate the camera on the network. Camera does show up in the router and works correctly - if you obtain the "router issued" IP address and log in, you will be able to verify that the camera is operational. The problem is trying to add it to the "mydlink account"

Other Thoughts: I was able to resolve all this by using a a dedicated Windows 7 laptop (no virtual OS) and I downloaded the zero configuration software, flashed the firmware, (there is a newer version out) - and everything worked fine. Camera was added to my dlink acct. HAve not tried the FTP or email feature as yet.

iView SupraPad i700 Tablet - Intel Dual Core 2 GB RAM / 8GB Flash Memory 7.0
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Paid 50.00 for this item. Its really worth 30.00
Good for reading my ebooks on the train and playing a few video games - nothing involving heavy graphics. Decent battery life, ok graphics. Overall, good bang for the buck

Cons: Not worth the current price of 70.00
Slow to bootup after installing games and other apps.
But that is expected - only 8GB internal
Cannot switch apps to storage card - (possible with root?)

Other Thoughts: Decent tablet for reading your ebooks. Inexpensive. I did update the firmware from the manufacturer website and everything worked as per the instructions. Updating the firmware will wipe everything clean and reset back to factory. As of Dec 2014, firmware version is the same as installed - no new updates.

Whistler CR90 Laser Radar Detector
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Hope they post this review 10/21/2014

This review is from: Whistler CR90 Laser Radar Detector

Pros: No pros. Dont waste your money on these Whistler models. I gave it 5 eggs because I am afraid they will NOT post my review. I have two whistler predecessors and both were junk.

Cons: These are no good. If you are going to invest in a radar detector then do yourself a favor and go top of the line, Either Passport 9500ix or the Belkin or Valentine model. Research them online. They cost a bit more, but when it comes to radar detectors - you get what you pay for. And believe me, tickets, court costs and time will add up to cost you MORE than the cost of a good radar detector. And remember, you dont have to be a reckless driver or speed demon. 5 to 10 above the posted speed limit can get you a ticket. And yes a coworker of mine got nailed going 10 mph above the posted speed limit and it cost him 10.00 dollars for every mile above the posted speed limit. Total cost to him was 100.00 In my case, total cost to me was about 500.00 and that was when I owned the Whistler. Now I have the Passport 9500 which marks the location of false alarms, warns you of red light locations and known speed traps, and can be updated via subscription. There also an app which allows your phone to talk to other drivers and locate speed traps ahead of time.

Other Thoughts: I had the 2 of the predecessors and they failed to pickup New Jersey State Troopers radar gun, So I got nailed on the Jersey Turnpike. And they have been other instances where they picked up a signal at the last minute. Now if I was speeding, I would have gotten nailed.
