Invaluable

ORICO 3.5 inch HDD Frame Mobile Rack Internal HDD Case CD-ROM Space 3.5 inch Internal SATA Hard Drive SSD Adapter (1106SS-V1)
ORICO 3.5 inch HDD Frame Mobile Rack Internal HDD Case CD-ROM Space 3.5 inch Internal SATA Hard Drive SSD Adapter (1106SS-V1)

Pros: It works exactly as described. It lets you easily slide a bare 3.5" hard drive into your computer and access it. Unlike a USB dock, you have full speed, full feature SATA III access. Drives slide right in and make a good connection every time. The power button lets you wait until the drive is fully connected to turn it on. The power button is a physical toggle button, so you can set a drive to be on or off during startup. A great little feature if you want to bot from another hard drive. The power LED is nice and bright and the disk activity light works without any sort of motherboard connection. This is an invaluable tool for anyone who ever has to work with bare hard drives.

Cons: The latch on the door is a little funny. You have to pull the latch, then close the door. Nothing to lose an egg for though.

Does not hold bits

Nippon Labs STK-13YL PC Service Toolkit with 12 Tools in Yellow
Nippon Labs STK-13YL PC Service Toolkit with 12 Tools in Yellow

Pros: It has everything you need for basic computer repair. The screw extractor is very springy and the tweezers are nice. Very cheap when I got it.

Cons: The bit drivers have no retention mechanism. There is no O-ring or ball bearing. The driver does not have a permanent magnet in it, and it does not retain a strong magnetization when magnetized manually. The bits just fall right out. Did not ship with any removable bits.

Overall Review: I was very disappointed by the bit driver. You can solve the problem by stuffing a part of a disposable glove between the bit and the driver, but I am still withholding two eggs.

Disappointing

BIOSTAR TA970 Ver. 5.3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
BIOSTAR TA970 Ver. 5.3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Good feature set and very cheap.

Cons: Does not boot from USB drives in USB 3.0 ports. Neither 3.0 nor 2.0 drives work. I can boot from USB 3.0 drives in USB 2.0 ports, but it is still an annoying bug. A careful reading of the manual reveals that it can only overclock the RAM if there are two sticks. With four you are stuck with stock speeds. The BIOS is poorly documented. While it can boot in UEFI mode, it lacks a graphical UEFI configuration utility. It seems to just be a BIOS with UEFI booting tacked on.

Overall Review: If it had not been so cheap I would have knocked off another egg. I have had stability issues with this build, and while I initially blamed the board, I was able to hunt down the error to the L1 cache of my CPU.

Good dock

ORICO 6619US3-BK SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5" and 3.5" HDD, SSD [8TB Support]
ORICO 6619US3-BK SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5" and 3.5" HDD, SSD [8TB Support]

Pros: Works very well as a dock. It is USB 3.0 so it will be faster than any hard drive, and fast enough for most SSDs. The drive connection feels solid. The plastic shroud for 2.5" hard drives works perfectly. I can access hard drive SMART data over the USB bridge in Linux, which saves me cracking open a case to test a hard drive. I like that the power button is a toggle button. It lets you make sure that everything is connected before you power it on. Works just fine with my 3TB GPT hard drive. Sleek, simple design.

Cons: Requires a power supply. When I bought it I was hoping that it would be able to pull enough power over USB 3.0 for the power supply to be optional. Alas, it needs to be plugged in even when using only a 2.5" hard drive.

Solid

ADATA 64GB UV128 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive (AUV128-64G-RBE)
ADATA 64GB UV128 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive (AUV128-64G-RBE)

Pros: Fast USB 3.0 connection, great value (Thank you E-Blasts). Solid slider mechanism. You can easily extend the drive one-handed and then push it into the USB slot by the case. Easy RMA process. When the first drive started glitching out after a few months of very heavy use, they RMAed it quickly and easily. The second one is still going strong even after a trip through the washing machine.

Cons: Getting fine sand out of the slider case is very difficult. The serial number is etched onto the bottom of the USB plug. It will fade with use. Write it down when you get the drive or you may not be able to read it if you have to RMA it. My second drive sometimes fails to mount properly, but there has been no data loss or slow down. Considering how heavily I use it and that it has survived a full wash and tumble dry, I am not very dissapointed.

Overall Review: I was hesitant to knock off an egg, but the drive longevity has not been as good as I would expect from this generation of flash memory.

Cyber Monday!

Intel 730 Series 2.5" 480GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSC2BP480G4R5
Intel 730 Series 2.5" 480GB SATA 6Gb/s MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSC2BP480G4R5

Pros: Blazing fast, solidly built. The Intel software is quite nice in Windows. I have been running Mint 17 Linux on it with TRIM enabled without any glitches. Price was on par with a Samsung 840 Evo on Cyber Monday, but the Intel SSD uses MLC flash, has a longer warranty, and is built off of Intel's enterprise offerings.

Cons: None yet. The MSRP was much higher than comparable Sandisk or Samsung SSDs at the time, but I got it on sale.

Could not deliver product

Like many other reviewers, all I received was a small padded envelope with a piece of paper saying that my order would be shipped later. Despite repeated enquiries by email, I never received tracking information or even confirmation that they had the product in stock. All I got were vague statements that they would check on my order. Thankfully I was able to order an alternative directly from Newegg and get a refund on my order from this seller. I do not see why Newegg would allow for this seller to continue using their platform.
