Fantastic Small Business Router

Cradlepoint Small Business Mobile Broadband Router MBR1200B
Cradlepoint Small Business Mobile Broadband Router MBR1200B

Pros: Wireless WAN using USB data stick, wifi-as-WAN, automatic failover/failback, ability to turn DHCP off for main wireless network and on for guest wireless network; WAN load balancing, GRE and VPN tunneling, and lots of other enterprise-grade features in an economical package.

Cons: None that I have found so far.

Overall Review: Simply the best small business router that I have come across. The ease of use for setting up the wireless WAN and failover alone makes it worth the price. Excellent help menu that pops up when you hover the mouse over a setting that you don't understand, AND it's all grammatically correct! There have been two firmware updates released since I've owned the router, so it's nice to know they support their products. I'm a big Cradlepoint fan now, and I'd buy this thing again in a heartbeat.

Great little PC

Pros: Very small, decent performance, works perfectly as a register running point-of-sale software for a small business. We took the VESA mount it came with and mounted it under the desk and out of sight with some wood screws. Windows 7 responds well, and it ran a test video I played without any hiccup. 6 USB ports was just enough to have mouse + keyboard, receipt printer, barcode scanner, credit card reader, and debit pin pad all plugged in. Paired with 4 GB of G.Skill memory and an Intel 60GB SSD. WEI scores are: Processor: 3.7 Memory: 5.7 Graphics: 4.0 Gaming Graphics: 5.7 Primary hard disk: 7.7

Cons: Runs quite hot, hit as high as 73C just installing Windows updates (the CPU was at 100%). I'm not sure if this little thing would be very suitable as an HTPC because of the heat. I would recommend replacing the thermal paste on the cpu once you have the case open (which you will need to do anyway to install the memory and hard drive.) This problem is mitigated in Windows once the chipset driver is installed and power management kicks in and scales the CPU back under light loads. Since we use it as a point of sale register, the unit doesn't get very warm. However, heavy loads will still keep the temperatures high. It also helps to keep the unit vertical, whether mounted in the VESA mount or on the stand it comes with. Keep the side with the CPU at the top. This helps alleviate the hot temperatures accumulating inside the case as the hot air gets exhausted immediately out the vent at the top.

Overall Review: Make sure you flash to the latest BIOS. I installed Windows 7 on it before updating the BIOS and ran across odd behavior with the system pausing and becoming unresponsive for extended amounts of time. After I flashed the BIOS, this issue seemed to disappear. For about $260 including the memory and hard drive, it's hard to beat and perfect for what we are using it for. I may buy another one for my mother who needs a computer for iTunes, checking email and light web browsing.

Awesome stuff

Comments: This ram is very very good. I run it at 200mhz sync with fsb with 5-2-2-2 timings at 2.7v no problems. I'd definately recommend this over corsiar seeing that this is $12 cheaper than corsair and can do same timings. All in all great ram.

Comments: Bought 1 stick (another to come shortly) and so far this is a great alternative to Corsair XMS. Popped it in and running 200 fsb in sync with 5-2-2-2 timings at 1.6v. I took it up to 209 which is as far as i could go and still very stable. For 83 bucks this is a steal.

GAINWARD GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB DDR AGP 2X/4X Video Card GeForce4 PowerPack! Ultra/650 XP GS

Comments: I am having trouble making this card work. I install it, plug in the power and turn the computer on, and.....nothing. The computer boots up just fine, but my moniter doesn't get a signal, it just stays black and says "video error". Also, after about a minute, the computer just shuts itself off. I called tech support and they weren't much of a help, and all they could say was that it was could be my power supply. I have a 300W ps, so I guess its a possibility that could be it. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what to do...
