This review is from: Apple 1TB Time Capsule
Pros: Pretty box. Good Wifi coverge.
Cons: The unit died after 20 months. Did some checking on the web and found reports of hundreds of these units dying at around 18 months. It seems they are poorly designed for dissipating heat. After an initial spat of problems Apple “redesigned” the unit by changing the fast hard drive with a slow 5400 rpm drive to reduce the heat output. Apple also agreed to replace a lot of the early units. The later units still have the same problem but Apple does not care. I called their help line and the guy told me “it lasted almost 2 years, that’s pretty good”. Somehow I expected a $300 product to last longer than that. In the end they referred me to a non-Apple company in the area that might be able to help me get the data off the unit, for a large fee. If you do decide to purchase on of these units be sure to frequently back it up, especially once it is older than 18 months.
Other Thoughts: Some how I was expecting more from Apple.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC
Pros: Fantastic product. I pay the bills at my company. Bill comes in, enter in Quickbooks, scan with the ScanSnap, and throw away. Scanner produces a PDF. Software does OCR so the PDFs are searchable. Need the phone bill from four months ago? A few clicks with the mouse and there it is.
I also have ScanSnap S510 at home. The S1500 does much better at feeding paper. The S510 will sometime pull two or three pages through at once but the S1500 does not. Also does much better at things like cash register receipts. I can scan 5 or 6 at a time no problem.
Cons: A dialog box comes up after each scan asking me what to do with it. Have not figure out how to alway save in the scan organizer software. The OCR program waits until system is idle before starting.
Other Thoughts: The scanner has gotten rid of tons of paper from my office and made my life much easier.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Put this processor on an Intel DG35EC motherboard for a ESXi 4.0 server. Works great.
Other Thoughts: Be sure to turn on the virtualization support in the BIOS.READ FULL REVIEW
