Pros: Fast drive
Works well most of the time, reads most DVD's and copies DVD's with Nero just fine.
Cons: Balks at reading some converted VHS video-to-DVD files, takes some minutes of running before it finally reads the file and plays it.
Samsung SH222AB DVD drive reads same file using same Nero software in seconds.
Other Thoughts: Got a firmware update to TL02 version 8, but did nothing to help file issue.
Product support is decent, but of no help. Tried new cables but same issue. Drive must be out of warranty, no offers of replacement or exchange.
For $22 what should I expect right? Will stick with Samsung...
Pros: Wonderful drive, quieter than my LG DVD drive, reads files and writes very quickly. Very Pleased!
Cons: None so far, but my timing sucks as I seem to pay regular retail only to see the same item on sale the day after my purchase...
Other Thoughts: Very fast shipping, all well wrapped and unharmed.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Could not be happier... GTX 560 Ti video card installed easily, taking great care not to let any static discharge damage this one (what I believe must have happened to the defective GT 9600). Runs 30-40C, quiet fans can not be heard over my case fans so far, great performance, good form factor for my case, running well on the latest Nvidia web drivers. No issues with the factory overclock either.
Cons: Took about 3 weeks for the RMA to go through from first emails to card delivery...luckily had a backup video card that was good enough to read emails and such during the wait...not a bad practice for anyone.
Gigabyte offered a fan equiped GT 240 card as a straight-across trade, but I declined and opted for the GTX 560 Ti for another $200. So got about $45 refund for my original GT 9600 $112 purchase price...
Other Thoughts: Finally, warranty period is 3 years FROM DATE OF MANUFACTURE...not purchase date. Just made it with the 9600 GT!
My first RMA with Gigabyte, kind of mechanical-toned customer service but it is a big, foreign company (Taiwan email address) so that may affect the communication tone. Nice to be able to negotiate for an upgrade to better products instead of receiving just a replacement.
