NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAS Wireless Gigabit Open Source Router/ USB port Rangemax 2.4/5GHz Simultaneous N600 Dual Band IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Good solid signal all over the house. Running stable for month. Speed as advertised. No external antennas that can brake off, good web interface for configuration. Media server works with any USB stick I plugged in.

Cons: Wifi signal range suddenly dropped to only a few feet after working fine for 2 years. Was hoping it would live longer...

Other Thoughts: Not sure how long such appliances are supposed to last, but two years is disappointing. My old Netgear WGT624 is still working after 5 years.

Pros: Fast, stable and cool, overclocked to 2.4GHz in my PC-Chips P55G motherboard with stock fan. Easy installation.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Good value!

PC CHIPS P55G LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7050 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I am running this board with a 1.8 MHz Core Duo slightly overclocked to 2.4MHz, 2GB PC6400 memory. Vista and regular applications run great with the integrated graphics.
Good value for the price!

Cons: Runs my PC2 6400 memory at only 667MHz, haven't figured out why.
The GeForce 7050/610i Chipset is not yet supported in Ubuntu Linux, meaning no sound and only 800x600 VGA mode :(
Integrated graphics with current Nvidia drivers is way too weak for serious games like Oblivion.

Other Thoughts: Be careful when installing the Nvidia drivers. One of the supplied drivers did crash. Had to reinstall Vista again. Used only graphics, sound and network card drivers, and now it works fine.
