Pros: Cheap. Supplies power.
Cons: Within a couple of months the fan developed a chirping, whistling noise. On occasion it starts shaking and rattles the entire case. It's almost endearing, but mostly annoying.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: High performance to price ratio, capacity, brand name I (used to) trust.
Other Thoughts: Spins up and down several times with what seems like an excessive amount of vibration, then the BIOS gives up and shows it as a 0GB hard drive using the name of the drive preceding it on the bus.
This dead drive ruined my evening. I was expecting to relax after a hard week in the lab by installing a fresh system on this baby and basking in its speed (storagereview.com), then throwing my failing backup drive through my neighbor's window, but I've been denied. I thought I was getting a great deal on this one, but I didn't expect the low price to be a result of frequent (based on other reviews) failures of this drive. Getting a replacement and hoping for the best. Now I'm left without a brand to respect... this was the last one.
Pros: Great performance/cost ratio, single slot.
Cons: Unstable. This could be an issue with drivers or included applications, but after the card was installed my system would randomly freeze up or reboot while idle. I didn't experience this while the card was under load. The supplied applications also need improvement - Smart Doctor minimizes itself, Splendid, which is supposed to improve video playback quality actually makes things worse - it constantly adjusts image which leads to flickering/flashing, fortunately you can disable it. Both Smart Doctor and CCC crash occasionally.
Runs hot, some might be bothered by fan being loud when the card is under load.
