This review is from: ASUS EA-N66 Dual-Band Wireless-N900, 3 in 1 Access Point/Repeater/Gigabit Ethernet Adapter IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n 1 x RJ-45 Ethernet port Up to 450Mbps downlink + 450Mbps uplink Wireless recertified
Pros: Fast radio, gigabit ethernet, and orthogonal antennas make for good network performance. No nonsense with 'Cloud Management'. LEDs can be disabled in software. The latest firmware has sensible defaults for most use cases and will give good performance out of the box. Can be configured without a special program or disk. Easy to enable telnet from the web GUI.
Cons: The clunky configuration website is kind of sad. When I turned on "WMM No Ack" in the latest firmware 184.108.40.206g, my network slowed to a crawl. When this thing works, I get the full 30 megabits from my cable modem, but with that one setting wrongly enabled I got only 600k. The device says (in fine grey print on the underside) that its IP is 10.0.0.1, but it's actually 10.0.1.1. Blue LEDs are kind of dated, white would be classier. No 3rd party firmware supports this device.
Other Thoughts: This device has some knobs for tweaking settings and good quality hardware. It's smaller than I was expecting. Honestly, I might buy more even though they don't run DD-WRT. I'll need to see how they work at long range, since all my testing has been from the next room over.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Rosewill RCHD-12007 10 ft. White Ultra Slim HDMI Cable w/ RedMere Technology
Pros: Oh man, it's the nicest HDMI cable I've ever seen. 10ft but it bundles up smaller than a 3ft cable I have, and the cable is light and supple. Plus the plugs are smaller than any others I've seen while still being sturdy...
I think the lightness of the cable more than makes up for the minimal strain relief at the plugs. I expect this cable to last through years of travel and constant use.
Cons: My mom got it confused with her phone charging cable. It's that thin and the connectors are so slim! Also, the input and output ends are different.
Other Thoughts: Oh, and it works with CEC. I didn't try the ethernet functionality.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Fosmon Vivid Series Micro USB Flat Cable - Yellow
Pros: Colorful, flat, modern, works. Good quality plugs.
Cons: Boxy, slightly bulky connectors. Anisotropic cable.
Other Thoughts: Flat cable wasn't as good an idea as I was expecting, but I like it anyway. Yellow is a great color.READ FULL REVIEW
