This review is from: Corsair Gaming K70 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Red Switches
Pros: The hardware works, I guess.
Cons: The logo. The yellow coloring.
Please, Corsair, don't fall into the razer tribal stamp logo and bright, ugly color trap that a lot of other gear falls into. I buy your stuff because it doesn't have all of that junk. Please.
This review is from: Fractal Design Node 605 Black Aluminum/Steel ATX HTPC/Media Center Computer Case
Pros: Great build quality. The front face is a brushed metal and it looks very nice in my home entertainment center.
Absolutely quiet. The switch on the side of the case (bad placement, in my opinion, but more on that later) allows you to control the two included 120mm case fans. The switch has three settings, at the highest setting the fans are barely audible while sitting near the case (I'm 29 and my hearing is still perfect), and middle setting is hard to hear unless you've put the case near your ear. When you switch it to off, you can't hear the fans at all (duh).
I built a HTPC/Steambox using this case, I used a fanless power supply so the only fans I have are these case fans and the stock HSF that came with my i7-4770k.
To compare, the i7's HSF is more loud than the case fans at high, and Intel's heat sink fans are not that loud to begin with. Sitting 10 feet away in my living room, I was unable to hear the computer at all unless I had all my equipment turned off and was listening for it very carefully.
Cons: The fan control switch is in an awkward place, it is visible from the front of the case and sort of ruins the aesthetic.
... and of course, the blue power LED is a bit too bright.
Blue LEDs should not be used in a HTPC case. They're too visible in a dark room. I'm going to try to replace the LED with a different LED, baring that I'll just slap a dark vinyl piece over it.
Other Thoughts: This is was first Fractal Design case. I've appreciated their cases for awhile, so I decided to pull the trigger one one and I'm glad I did. Great build quality with a silent design. I'm happy with my purchase, and I'd happily recommend it to others.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: An ASRock socket 1150 mini-itx board; I've used ASRock in my last two builds, my first being an ATX i7-2600k and now an ITX i7-4770k. This board will be used in a HTPC/Steambox for my living room.
I was going for an absolutely silent build, and I'm happy to report that this motherboard does not emit any buzzing or other noise at all.
Comes with your standard accessories, I bought it so I could take advantage of the displayport connector and future proof myself when I eventually buy a 4k television.
Built in bluetooth made my life a lot easier when I needed to connect a keyboard/remote for HTPC usage.
Build quality is great, as ever. Power over IP is useful for starting up with my phone.
Currently running Windows 8.1 w/ Start8 and XBMC.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: None.READ FULL REVIEW
