This review is from: TP-LINK RE580D AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Range Extender
Pros: I own two of these. I have a wireless router, but its in an extreme location on one side of the house. Two of these I was able to stretch the Wi-Fi signal not only to the far corner upstairs, but also a second one downstairs covered the second floor, the basement and the patio outside. Occasionally, the one downstairs changes color from blue to orange intermittently, but network contact is maintained throughout. One benefit is the inclusion of 5 gigabit ether-net ports on the back. This helps if you have a bevy of wireless devices located in one area and you require multiple wired connections. Example: Our living room has wired the TV, Blu-ray player, X-Box and a PC. All maintain a constant connection for streaming and video quality is flawless.
Cons: None in the two months I've owned these.
Other Thoughts: This is a great product. If you have odd configuration in your home that seems to limit or restrict your signal from your wi-fi router, this is a great add-on to not only boost the wireless signal, but also provide wired-like connectivity to whatever devices are connected to it. The wireless is constant but the 2.4 Ghz band seems to be stronger than the 5ghz band. This works best with N & AC network devices.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Will not power up in slot alone, have to use the included dongle to get additional power from the power supply.
