Pros: I received the device for an unbiased review.
Shipping was fast and it was packed fine.
The charge time is considerable, but well worth it. I charged 2 (second generation) Nexus 7s simultaneously. One was at less than 20% and the other was about 60%. The one with the higher charge got to 100% and the other with the lower charge got to about 55% before the battery got tired on the TripMate Elite. The unit flashes a light on the far right that tells when the battery needs to be recharged and I found that very helpful.
The on\off switch gives the user a quick check on the status of the battery. A quick touch of it will flash the lights, showing how full it is. Holding the button down for a few seconds will turn it off\on.
Accessing and setting up the router functions was KISS (keep it simple stupid< VERY important for a dumb old man). The NAS feature works BETTER than my Linksys EA1750. I used the NAS feature with a 1TB external desktop drive and a bus powered USB 3.0 external HDD, both worked perfectly.
The Android app works just as it should, it is simple, clean and quick responding.
The body is hard, glossy plastic that appears to be very durable. The function lights are well placed and easy to see.
The included pouch\cover is a great idea and will be very much appreciated over time.
Cons: The manual included was printed too small for my tired, old eyes. But, I could see what I needed to.
The ONLY thing I would change is for the included USB cord to be black, rather than white.
Other Thoughts: Buy it and enjoy it.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Shipping was very fast.
Packaging was secure. Retail box in another shipping box with bubble packing.
Setup was a breeze using a Firefox browser. The browser UI is easy to navigate. After setting up a wired connection, the user can set the camera for wireless.
All of the manuals are in .pdf files on the install CD. I had to use those, rather than the included hard copy manual due to the print being so small.
A (hard copy) quick install guide is also included in the box. The print on it is bigger and far easier to read.
The settings for the router are clear and simple and allow the user to quickly set up the camera for remote management\viewing.
Cons: Small print in the manual is not good for old eyes.
Other Thoughts: Hootoo support shows an app for Apple devices. Hopefully one will come for Android.
Since I do not have an Apple device, I used my Nexus 7 to remotely view\control the camera and it worked great using Chrome.
Pros: First, shipping was lightning fast.
The retail box was packed securely in a shipping box.
The outter case is smooth, hard plastic and appears to be very well made.
The WiFi\Router feature works great, easy to set up and connect.
NAS feature worked flawlessly with a 100GB 2.5" HDD in an enclosure.
I am using it to charge my (first gen) Nexus 7 now.
Both the Windows and Android software (which can be obtained from their support site) are easy to use, have clear and straight forward UIs and make the setup a breeze.
The .pdf manuals are available from their support site also.
Cons: The ONLY thing that I was not impressed with, was the small print in the manual. Old age is not kind.
Other Thoughts: The features, versatility and quality make this a must have for everyone that has a geek heart.READ FULL REVIEW
