4 out of 5 eggs Starting to wonder about this company and RMAs 11/12/2015

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDEC120GB

Pros: I have purchased quite a few if the 120 eco2 and the 240 eco2. Generally they seem like a solid product and perform within the specifications.I have only had two of them that went bad or were DOA out of maybe 50 I have purchased, or had purchased by clients.
However, I am getting worried about doing more business with this company - see cons

Cons: The website shows under construction on the RMA page and has for some time. They now direct you to file a support ticket instead. I've filed two of these tickets and have not even been issued a ticket number back from them. The web seems to be full of comments about Mushkin dropping the ball on RMAs. IMHO, a company that can't deal with their RMAs in a professional manner is either incompetently managed or they are flooded with RMAs. Either way, it has sent me a chilling message and I will probably shift my purchases and my clients to other products.

Other Thoughts: Why would a company, that has succeeded with such a competitive product line, drop the ball this badly on customer service? That seems really self destructive.

Silicon Power S60 2.5

5 out of 5 eggs boght 50 or so of these with zero problems 03/05/2015

This review is from: Silicon Power S60 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SP120GBSS3S60S25

Pros: I and clients have bought over 50 of these. Zero problems. Good performance with around a 550mb ATTO read speed and 900mb in raid 0 (on newer sata 3 mobos). Write is around half of that on both.

Cons: No cons whatsoever at this price point. I suppose it would have been great to have a maintenance utility like Intel or Samsung does so I could do a manual trim.

Other Thoughts: The affordable price point on the S60 120s and 240s have allowed me to update a ton of older socket 775 pcs which normally are running a 3ghz E8400 CPU. Even though they have the older sata2 ports, the pcs are just rejuvenated and its saved my clients a boatload of dough. When the pc is a HP7900, I've occasionally slapped in 2 of the 120s on raid 0 and that brings the machine up to Sata3 speeds.
