Crucial M550 CT512M550SSD1 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Very fast compared to spinning disk. I don't really care about the stats and the raw throughput. I care that it boots from last BIOS screen to Windows 7 login in less than 18 seconds and there is not lag between opening a file or program and the way it jumps onto the screen.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Being my first personal SSD, I was a bit leery and poured over the specs for a few days before I decided on this one. It got good reviews and low DOA reports so I bought it. I've not had a lick of trouble out of it and it boots very quickly. If you need a 1/2 Tb drive, this is not a bad choice, especially if you can catch it on sale.

Mushkin Enhanced Chronos MKNSSDCR480GB-7 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: This was my second SSD of 3 purchased recently. This one went into my wifes Phenom II computer and really woke it up. It isn't the fastest or slowest nor is it the cheapest or most expensive. It is a decent drive at a reasonable price and performance is so much faster than the old physical platter harddisk that it isn't funny.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This was for my wife after I'd put an SSD in my computer. Her computer had other issues (wouldn't run backup) that required me to reload Windows, which had nothing to do with the SSD. Reinstalling Windows 7 on the SSD was much faster than previous reinstalls on traditional drives.

Crucial M500 CT240M500SSD1 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Fast and reliable. I'm not going to quote stats or complain because it only hits 90% of it. This thing is way ahead of spinning media and I put it in an old Core i3 laptop to breath some life back into it. It did just that. My wife used to start the laptop and do some random things while waiting for it to boot. Now she says it is there before she can even get out of her chair.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This was my 3rd SSD purchase in as many weeks. This Crucial seems to be holding up quite well. I had hoped it would provide our laptop with increased run time but so far it has not. I won't dock it for that as my expectations may be unrealistic.
