Pivos Xios DS Media Play Ultra Slim Wifi Smart TV Companion XBMC Official Sponsor
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: It is OK, neat to have an Android OS on the TV. XBMC actually works on it and a few games play alright. Has a native Linux version OS but doesn't do much yet.

Cons: Slow, Netflix barely works half the time (their support forums suggests an APK version rather than the Google Play downloaded version).

Other Thoughts: Go for a Chromecast or a higher end media streaming device over this.

HGST Travelstar H2IK10003272SP(0S03563) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: It went into my Playstation 4 replacing the 500GB 5400rpm drive, so far it's good and some games load a little faster.

Cons: Adds a little heat, otherwise none so far.

Other Thoughts: Going with a large capacity 7200rpm drive is more ideal than an expensive SSD for the PS4 since every disc you put into it installs the game anyhow and most games are reaching 40-50GB in size and my 2 week old PS4 already had ~100GB free left and I'm planning on getting a few titles this fall.

Don't bother with hybrid SSD/HDD drives, they're not worth it for the PS4.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: G.Skill is the brand you go with when building a gaming PC.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought 2 more sticks to increase memory capacity in my i7 3770K system I use for gaming, ASRock Z77-Extreme4 BIOS picks them up as XMP 1.2 for DDR3 1600, no issues and they can be OC'd to 1866 or perhaps 2000. With Kingston HyperX memory in my other system (also ASRock), the BIOS sees them as 1333 when they're 1600 and I had to manually set them to 1600 and sometimes the system won't boot until I reset the BIOS.
