This review is from: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 4GB G1 GAMING OC EDITION
Pros: The card performs well on 1080p.
Cons: The card is advertised as a 4GB video card, however in reality it has a 3.5GB partition and a 0.5GB partition that is much slower. This causes stuttering and lag in games that require high amounts of VRAM. The end result is a stuttering mess.
Other Thoughts: NVIDIA and its board partners have not admitted to the flaw and have posted remarks about average FPS not being affected by the problem. They are omitting that average FPS is a poor way to detect the problem which are seen with the 970. A frametime analysis shows that you get significant stuttering for games that use more than 3.5GB of memory. By denying that the problem exists, NVIDIA has said that they will also not work on specific driver optimizations for the 970 to try to minimize the issue. It's too late for me because I can't return the card, but I would recommend waiting until the new AMD video cards come out this year before buying a video card.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The power supply runs cool and quiet. Gives it's rated power without any problems. It's an excellent power supply with quality components and excellent performance. The full modularity is a plus for cable management and the cables look clean enough without the need for sleeving.
Cons: I'd have to say my worst gripe about the power supply wasn't the power supply itself, but the customer service. The box was missing cables. First I tried going to XFX's website to try to contact customer service, but there was no obvious contact email. The customer service number wasn't to call center, but to a voicemail which I left a message for but never got a call back.
To reach customer service, I had to browse through the newegg reviews for XFX products until I came across the email for the rep on newegg. I got in contact with Mark. Because of delayed response times and them not knowing their own products, it took about 2 weeks to finally get the cables I needed. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd buy from them again for all the trouble that they make you go through to reach a person and then communicate with them over days at a time.
Other Thoughts: The quality of the power supply for the price can't be beat. It's almost worth the trouble of going through customer service for any issues. Hope that nothing goes wrong and you will have a great product.READ FULL REVIEW
