5 out of 5 eggs Great value! 09/08/2012

This review is from: Rosewill RTK-045 45 Piece Premium Computer Tool Kit

Pros: Has all the tools you need for basic PC maintenance.

The tools are of good quality.

Comes with an Anti-Static Wrist Strap and an IC puller.

Nice case.

The elastic straps that hold the tools in place are good quality and won't stretch loose.

Cons: None -

Other Thoughts: Wish it had a ceramic flat-headed screwdriver.

5 out of 5 eggs Dependable - Upgrade To USB 3.0 09/08/2012

This review is from: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 1.5TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive STAC1500100 Black

Pros: First, these 1.5TB drives are priced well.

I have two of them and they are on 24/7 and never get hot. They are also quiet.

The base is sturdy and the enclosure and plugs are quality. I had one fall off of the top of my case and it still runs perfect.

The base they attach to can be upgraded to USB 3.0.

The top of the drive has a detachable cover for ventilation.

Got both of mine on sale - Great deal.

These are the best external HDD for the money and storage capacity.

Cons: One of them is louder than the first one I bought.

Seems to be the enclosure and not the drive - but it does not heat up so I'm not concerned.

Difficult to open the enclosure.

Other Thoughts: For those having issues getting it recognized in Windows XP you should take a look at your Anti-Virus program and other malware programs that are set to start with Windows XP.

I currently run XP and have Kaspersky Anti-Virus and there are no issues.

However, ESET caused problems as did Microsoft Security Essentials...check your AV.

If they still are not recognized at startup make sure they are powered on BEFORE you boot up Windows XP.

No problems on a Windows 7 machine.

Removed the software to a .zip file - I did not need it.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 - 1 PC

4 out of 5 eggs What happened? 09/08/2012

This review is from: ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 - 1 PC

Pros: A good anti-virus program.

Frequent updates and good support.

Cons: Not as good as ESET 4.

Was working well with my external HDD before I updated the engine. Now it causes my computer to crash at startup on Windows XP when my external HDD are connected.

Even refuses to recognize them if I wait to plug them in after properly booting Windows XP.

Other Thoughts: Will go with another anti-virus program because of the hardware conflicts. Dissapointed but still a quality anti-virus.

Perhaps these issues are not present on a Windows 7 OS but do I really care at this point...
