This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-Z87-HD3 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Nicely laid-out board. Looks good, SATA ports not on their side - come straight up from the board. Lots of USB3. Well-priced for the features.
Cons: Not UEFI ready. Read another review of higher-end board where boot process takes minutes - yes minutes - and this board does the same thing if you use UEFI settings. Definitely not ready for other than BIOS config.
Other Thoughts: Running F7 the board came on. Sadly, nothing newer, and that's been out since January (it's the end of April 2014). Nothing newer even on TW site for Gigabyte. Hopefully I can get Windows to boot reliably, and without waiting for minutes, once I stick with BIOS config.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Great features for the price: 6 SATA 6GBps ports (all up-facing, not sideways), all RAID via Intel chipset, lots of USB3.0, nice layout, PCI + PCI Express x1, PCI Express 2.0, PCI Express 3.0, on-board VGA/DVI/HDMI support with proper processor, optical (back), coaxial (header) digital audio output, good build quality.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: Built three systems with this board so far, about to build two more. Can't beat it for $105, Gigabyte quality.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: WD My Book Studio 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive
Pros: Looks good on paper
Cons: Appears to have dropped Firewire, but so did Apple
Other Thoughts: newegg schizophrenic on their listing of this item: details section says USB2.0, features section says USB3.0. WD store site said USB3.0. My guess: WD upgraded device to keep current with the interface, newegg a little behind in their documentation. But, would have to buy it thinking it's got USB3.0 and find it doesn't, then be unable to return it because newegg had it listed in one place as USB2.0, another place as USB3.0. Expect more from newegg.READ FULL REVIEW
