Pros: Worked with all of the older parts i had on hand.
Cons: No achi settings as mentioned.
Other Thoughts: Used this and an Athlon X2 4000+ 2.1GHz 65w Brisbane (G1) to revive an old acer M1100.
Worked with all of the old acer stuff, except that i had to re-pin the front header and the front facing network indicator doesn't function. Not that many (if any) aftermarket motherboard would have a network indicator on the front panel header.
This review is from: Prolimatech PRO-BSC-48 92mm Hydrodynamic B48 CPU Cooler
Works on AMD mounts and can vent exhaust rearwards.
Dropped load temps by 10˚C as compare to the stock AMD High performance cooler.
Included thermal paste is known to be pretty good. Had plenty left over too.
Cons: It crowds up my first ram slot.
Other Thoughts: Used this on my AMD 8320E, i was using a cooler from an amd Phenom 965. Far cooler and less noise.
I'm sure this would work on a lapped AMD cpu as well, it's a tight firm mount. There are some threads left over too, so it can go down further.
Can't say anything about mounting it on intel, but it looks pretty simple and it's a bolt threw design.
This review is from: EVERCOOL K8-FM1 Retention Holder compatible for AMD k8 socket/AM2/AM3/FM1
Pros: Perfect fit.
Metal back plate (not plastic).
Cons: I can't think of anything that would detract from this.
Other Thoughts: Had to replace my mount after removing an after market cooler that replaced the back plate.
Looked around only to realize i had lost my original back plate.
