Most Critical Review

Most frustrating build I've ever done.

ASUS H87M-PRO LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 uATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS H87M-PRO LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 uATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Haven't found any yet.

Cons: 1. Board won't POST! I've tried three popular brands of memory sticks (G.Skill Ripjaws X, Corsair Dominator, and Kingston) at 1600, 1333, and 1333 respectfully, and none have worked. Called Asus tech who claims that NONE of the memory sticks that I have used are "compatible" with that board. He sent me an email listing all the " known compatible memory sticks" (its not a long list). I copied and pasted ALL model numbers from the list to Newegg's search, and Newegg only sells three on the list. I ordered a set of Corsair Vengeance 1600. Email today says I have to wait five more days for delivery. I'll keep you posted. 2. As someone else mentioned, the lower PCI slot is too close to the USB connectors and service panel connectors.

Overall Review: I bought this because everyone seems to praise Asus boards. This board is advertised by both Asus and Newegg as simply requiring DDR3 memory at 1600/1333/1066. If Asus is manufacturing motherboards that are not 'compatible' with three of the most popular memory sticks sold at Newegg, I don't think that this is a board worth a) the cost, or b) the research needed to acquire specific components for most of us novices. Oh, this is the 12th PC I've built for myself, friends , and family, and the only one that didn't work perfectly when I turned it on.
