Pros: Synology makes an awesome product. I spoke with a number of IT types and they all recommended it... and they were right.
The feature set is amazing, you can serve a website, use it for BitTorrent, as a Dropbox replacement, a Plex server, GitServer, or just use it to back up your Mac via TimeMachine.
It really does it all, and you can configure any RAID setting you like, or just mix and match using Synology's own Raid config.
It is quiet, but it does make SOME noise.
There is a LOT of depth and features to this little box. Further, there is even a Synology community of users who make apps for it as well.
I've had it now for over 6 months and the only time it's ever gone DOWN is when I lost power in my house and for occasional software updates.
Cons: It's not cheap, BUT YOU do get what you pay for.
Other Thoughts: I had a Drobo (first and second gen). if you are debating between THIS and a Drobo, it's no contest... get the Synology.READ FULL REVIEW
