This review is from: StarTech USB3SEXTAA6 6 ft. Blue SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Extension Cable A to A - M/F
Cons: I'm using this cable with a Seagate 1 TB USB 3.0 external hard drive. With the drive plugged in directly to the motherboard, I get ~45-50 MB/sec. Using the extension cable, I get ~ 8-11 MB/sec. I would not recommend buying this cable, at least to use with this drive.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SYBA USB 3.0 PCI-e Card with HDD Power Connector (3 + 1 Ports) Model SD-PEX20080
Pros: Inexpensive card. Increased performance of Sandisk 8 GB UHS-I 45 MB/sec SD card via Sandisk USB 3.0 card reader from 29 MB/sec to 38 MB/sec, compared to using a USB 2.0 port on my motherboard. Reads a Corsair USB 3.0 8 GB USB stick rated at 70 MB/sec read at 68 MB/sec.
Cons: Device prevents my motherboard from sleeping. I have a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard that is configured to use S3 sleep (write to RAM and then appear to power off). With the Syba card on my Win7-64 Ultimate, my system immediately wakes back up after attempting to sleep.
The drivers were also tricky to setup, but follow the advice of other reviewers and you will get it.
