This review is from: Corsair Raptor H3 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Gaming Headset
Pros: -Good entry headset if you can get it on sale and with rebate. After owning this, I wouldn't pay more than twenty buckeroos for it.
-Thick and long cord/wire, which I like.
-Came with an extra cord extension, which is nice. The extension cord is very cheap and thin gauge though, but it works.
-Mic looks to be solidly built.
Cons: -I agree that the sounds are washed out.
-The rubbery volume adjustment knob (skin) on each ear-cup comes off easily when you turn it all the way. It feels cheap when you turn the knob. Needs better glue. I think it's poorly designed (the rubber skin over the knobs). Furthermore, I don't think the ear-cup volume knobs are necessary - I rarely use them. More places to go wrong.
-The outer plastic side of the ear-cup does feel cheap.
Other Thoughts: *Side note:
I noticed that I developed some kind of a rash around my ear and ear-lobes after using this headset for some times. It was itchy as he11. The headset is brand new and very clean, not oily or anything. I've been wiping the ear-cups down vigorously (with warm water) after every ~ 3 times of use. I think the factory sprayed something on the ear-cup foams to keep it fresh and new. Obviously I developed some kind of allergic reaction to it. Kind of like when you don't wash brand new clothes first, sensitive skin people develop a rash because the factory spray some kind of cleaning agent/etc. to keep the item smelling new and clean, or for storage purposes.
-I did not factor this into my rating of the headset because I am a person with sensitive skin and don't like cleaning agent, moth balls, fragrances, or smelly laundry/dryer sheets.
-If I had to do it over again, I would skip the Corsair's Raptor series products and go straight to their high end one (Vengeance). I still like Corsair as they make great products, but I'm NOT impressed with their Raptor-Gaming Series (so far), or their acquisition of the brand.
Pros: The unit looks nice.
Cons: You will never get your rebate. Xigmatek hopes you forget so they don't have to pay.
Other Thoughts: Be careful people. Xigmatek is a rebate scam company. They lure you with a rebate or free whatever, and then never send it. They hope you will forget about your rebate. I bought this unit in Nov 2011. I called Xigmatek at the end of April 2012 and the person Christina Fleck say she will send out/credit me the rebate within two weeks. Well it's Aug 2012 and still no rebate. I contacted them again and now they are avoiding all emails and correspondence. Many people are in my shoes. No rebates for them either.
Newegg, please do something about this fraud company. Drop them if you must because they are giving you a bad name.
People who took the time and sent in the rebate forms - remember to contact Xigmatek in a few months and demand your rebate. Don't forget. Xigmatek hope that you forget so they don't have to pay.
I, on the other hand, will never buy a Xigmatek item again. I cannot stand dishonesty.
