HEC 63RABB Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

3 out of 5 eggs somewhat dissapointing 06/04/2011

This review is from: HEC 63RABB Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Low price + on sale + free shipping = great deal.
I like the look of the case and the USB ports on the front panel. The eSATA is fantastic for me as I have an external HDD that I connect via eSATA. I've never had a tool-less case before so this is a new experience. I like that the power suply is mounted on the bottom.

Cons: 1. I had to pound my MB faceplate into place on the back of the case.
2. Only one fan. More would have been nice, especially considering the design in mind for this case is to have at least four fans installed.
3. My liquid cooler doesn't fit. I just bought a Corsair H60 which I do have installed in another case but it doesn't fit in this one (unless you don't plant on having an MB). I had to drill a couple of holes and considering all the other ones that are already in the case I would have rather not.
4. MB mounts. I like to put my own stand-offs in and screw them all down so I know the MB is secure and grounded. I don't have a huge & heavy cooler anymore but I would still prefer to fully secure the MB.

Other Thoughts: I'm kind of torn on wether or not I would recommend this case. My last one is a $20 case and that seems to work quite well. The only reason I didn't stick with the old case is that my liquid cooler didn't fit at all as it doesn't have a 120mm fan port. The MB stand-offs being built-in is somewhat of an issue as well, being as I can't utilize all of the screw holes in my MB.
I was really counting on this case to work out for me as expected, and after I poked a couple more holes it did but it just seems a bit cramped. If you have a lot of cards and a liquid cooler then you should go with a more spacious case. It's right on the price but it seems to be just a bit off on the placement of things.
