Pros: This was my first cat6 purchase, so I can't really compare it, but compared to most cat5e cables, it seems to be made of quality material.
Cons: House brand doesn't tell who really made it.
Other Thoughts: I use it to connect a cable modem to a consumer grade wifi router, it works and doesn't waste space.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It didn't die all at once...every few minutes it makes a nasty sound and the DVR system restarts itself, so it still kind of works...
but really there are no pros to this item.
Cons: The drive is lame. The RMA process is much more lame.
The weakest service point I have dealt with at newegg is hard drive returns.
After 30 days, newegg tells you very politely that they will have nothing to do with your poor purchasing decision.
Other Thoughts: The reviews for every brand say "I only trust this brand" but they are all garbage. I think pigs will fly before any company ever makes a good product out of the magnetic hard drives used in current/older computers.
Most important part of purchasing hard drive: research the return policy CAREFULLY and COMPLETELY.
This review is from: Night Owl Zeus-DVR 16 x BNC Supports up to 1 x 2TB SATA HDD D1 16 Channel H.264 DVR
Pros: Semi Functional DVR unit provides live streams that are of decent quality (for locating people in a building).
Configuration is straight forward for a technical person with a basic understanding of network fundamentals.
Streaming to Ipad/iPhone/Android devices is not too difficult and fairly reliable, but security is more than questionable.
Cons: I had to do some serious research to find the correct software to use this product completely.
ddns fail. My dyndns account was suspended because of this device. (It was the only device attached to the account)
The android app (called ASee by meyetech in the Market) for viewing the cams requires unnecessary permissions into my phone calls, it works fine, but I am really upset about 3rd app developers picking through my life with a finetooth comb, and this app is the only solution to using this produce with android.
To view the cams from a windows computer, you must have internet explorer 8 installed, and configured to run unsigned, unsecure activex controls, so you will need to take extra steps to protect the rest of your environment from the security risk you must take to view the cameras from a desktop.
The media software included is lame. It works, barely.
The iOS app works but I don't know much else about it.
Other Thoughts: I havent figured out how to remote upload all the video footage, and the only videos I have pulled were for test purposes to see if I could pull videos...so I can't offer any useful production feedback yet, but I will when I can.
to replace the hard drive requires removing screws from the sides and back of the top cover-I suggest leaving the screws out of the back or sides to make replacing the hard drive (which you will inevitably have to sooner than you expect) less of a hassle.
Pick something else. I feel like I made an amateur mistake spending money on this incomplete and unsupported product.
