SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250KW 2.5
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

2 out of 5 eggs dissappointed with lack of firmware support for AMD 01/19/2014

This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250KW 2.5" TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) With Desktop Bundle Kit

Pros: I bought one of these drives from a local store to go with a Sony Laptop with a AMD E-350 / 6300 APU and found out, as apparently another reviewer, that Samsung does not support AMD through its Magic Firmware Update Software . In addition, the iso they provide does not boot or work correctly, so you cannot update the firmware in many cases with an AMD Chiptset. If you have Intel you are set but AMD you are out of luck. Having said that, the drive works and is fast but performance cannot be increased with firmware updates because they do not work on AMD. FIX This Issue SAMSUNG!!!!!

Cons: Zero firmware support for AMD Chipsets in most cases. To get the firmware to work with AMD is very difficult.

Other Thoughts: Love Samsung but come on!

Samsung ATIV Smart PC XE500T1C-A04US 11.6-inch Windows 8 Tablet – 64GB
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

5 out of 5 eggs I wanted to like this tablet 02/21/2013

This review is from: Samsung ATIV Smart PC XE500T1C-A04US 11.6-inch Windows 8 Tablet – 64GB

Pros: I bought mine at a local BB and was ready to hang up my iPad4, however, the touch screen does not respond well to your finger when attempting to move the windows, the keyboard does not come up automatically in desktop mode, the OS is not really designed to run on a tablet but meant to run on a laptop with a touch screen, and lastly the screen giant but the on screen keyboard is so big it negates the extra screen space. I really like the potential of this tablet design and the Spen is great but Windows 8 is not designed right for at true tablet without a keyboard. Back to my iPad I go, and I have never been a Apple fanboy, but but Windows 8 needs to be redone.

Cons: Very awkward to use without a keyboard.

Apple The new iPad 3rd Gen (64 GB) with Wi-Fi + AT&T 4G LTE – Black – Model #MD368LL/A
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Great display, super long lasting battery, fast web broswing and super good apps. This device can easily take the place of a laptop. All you have to do is a wireless keyboard keyfolio and a few apps.

Cons: A bit too expensive but rapidly dropping in price. You do get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Unlike the reviewer a few below, I do not wish to haul around a 3 to 6 pound laptop that has a battery that lasts 2 to 5 hours max and has a loud blaring fan that can burn your lap with extended use.The ipad with apps like Cloud On and Notability can easily replace a laptop, and I would much rather haul around a ipad than a laptop.
