Beautiful monitor with great features

SAMSUNG 24" TN LCD Monitor 2ms(GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, DVI, HDMI P2450H
SAMSUNG 24" TN LCD Monitor 2ms(GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, DVI, HDMI P2450H

Pros: This monitor is a true beauty with fantastic picture and a sleek look. The image is crisp and the color range is very vibrant. You also get quite a bit of control through the OSD to tweak the image as you see fit, if you feel the need to do so. The 1920x1080 resolution also ensures the absolute best picture, but you do need to make sure you have the computer to handle operations and gaming at those resolutions. The monitor itself is beautiful, with a very sleek high gloss black, which is behind a clear plastic itself, which helps with smudges. The power and menu buttons are just touch buttons, and not actual buttons. The labels illuminate when you touch the button, and are off the rest of the time, which is a nice and sleek looking touch. For inputs, the monitor has a VGA, a DVI and an HDMI input, which should suffice for the needs of most.

Cons: I did have some trouble initially, as the image quality didn't seem quite right at first, primarily with text, like it wasn't running at the native resolution. Unfortunately the monitors default settings have the input type set to "AV". Once I noticed the option in the OSD to switch the type to "PC", the image quality improved tremendously and looked as I'd expect it too. Still though, when selling a display as a computer monitor, it seems like the defaults should have it set to best server that role. But that might be something to look for if anyone buys this monitor. The stand it also just plastic. It's not a cheap or easily broken plastic, but it's just a solid piece so the monitor unfortunately can't adjusted in height or angle unless an alternate mounting method is used (like a wall mount that is adjustable) And while the menu buttons are cool, they can be a bit difficult in low light conditions, since there's nothing to feel beneath your fingers.

Overall Review: All in all, those cons aren't worth dropping an egg for. The AV/PC settings aren't a big deal if you flip through the manual (I didn't, heh). Once you're aware of the setting, it's a non-issue. The other two are relatively minor problems, but ones I felt people should be aware of none the less. On one last note, I will echo what someone else mentioned. The red is very vibrant on the NewEgg pictures of the product, but it's virtually unnoticeable on the monitor itself unless you really look closely. So if that red tint is a selling point for you, then you might be disappointed. However, if it's a detractor, then don't worry about it, you can't even really notice it.

Looks good, cools well, but install is a nightmare

ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED
ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

Pros: This thing is a beast, but actually slightly shorter than many of the big brick coolers that many people use. It certainly looks better than most of those as well, especially with the black fins. The LED is nice, it's not overly bright so it mostly just illuminates the fan, which is fine. It looks nice, but it's not necessary. My cooling has been decent, even with a problem resulting from the install. The CPU has stayed at a decent temp.

Cons: Unfortunately as much as I like the look and performance of the cooler, the installation was such a nightmare I'm not sure I'd use this again. I installed this on an AM3+ socket for an FX8350. The first problem I had is that the feet for the AM3+ socket in the manual shows the feet bent downwards. I think this is how they're supposed to be, but unfortunately mine was completely flat. Given the problems I had later during the install, I have a feeling they definitely should have been bent downwards. The first problem is the back bracket has to be assembled. This involves putting spacers on the end of the feetfor your socket and then sliding receivers in to those. Unfortunately there's nothing holding those receivers in place and they were constantly falling out as I was trying to work with the thing. If I had 3 hands this would have been fine, but I don't and this made things very frustrating. To add to my frustrations was the issue with the feet used on the cooler. Since they weren't bent as shown in the manual the screws weren't even close to the receivers they needed to screw in to. I eventually had to take the thing out to the garage and at least bend the feet a little with a pliers just to get them close. Even then I had to apply a ton of pressure that didn't feel remotely good for the processor or motherboard just to get those screws in to the receivers and hold them there to screw them in far enough to hold. To then get the screws in all the way I had to use a wrench on the receivers on the back to screw them in. You'd think they could have notched the backplate to make this unnecessary but apparently not. All in all this was yet another process where 3 or 4 arms/hands felt necessary. Then, to add insult to injury the thing is facing the wrong way. I followed the directions exactly, placed it so the correct fins and fans are facing the back of the case exactly as the directions stated. The problem is the directions said to place the thinner heatsink towards the rear of the case, but the picture showed it the opposite way. To make it more confusing the picture shows the fan mounted against the thinner heatsink while mine has it mounted against the fatter heatsink. But either way, the pic did show the fan mounted against the heatsink facing the front of the case, and blowing towards the heatsink it was not mounted on. Since this seemed to agree with mounting it with the thinner heatsink towards the cases back I chose to go with that as the text and fan placement in the picture indicated. Only thing that didn't agree was the pic showed the fat heatsink at the rear of the case, but everything else about it was wrong. Well, apparently half the picture and the text was wrong, cause as it turns out the fan is now blowing towards the front of the case, which is generally not a good idea. So now I have the dilemma of reusing this when I take it off to fix this problem, or simply replacing it rather than go through this nightmare

Overall Review: I like the look of the cooler and the performance is good even installed backwards, but the install process was just so bad I couldn't recommend this. Maybe if the feet were bent that might make things more tolerable, but even without that problem the install was still a huge pain. Then you get the installation directions contradicting itself to the point I now have to uninstall and reinstall (or replace) the cooler to get it installed properly and this whole thing was a huge mess. I want to like the cooler, but unfortunately the installation process is not worth the result.

Worked great ... for about a month

ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 Super Overclocked 8G EVO GDDR6 Dual-Fan Edition HDMI DisplayPort Gaming Graphics Card (DUAL-RTX2070S-O8G-EVO)
ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 Super Overclocked 8G EVO GDDR6 Dual-Fan Edition HDMI DisplayPort Gaming Graphics Card (DUAL-RTX2070S-O8G-EVO)

Pros: - Great in game performance - Ran cool even in demanding games

Cons: - Only one of the four connectors is an HDMI - Card seems to have failed after only about 1 month of use

Overall Review: So the card was working great until one day I reboot my PC and I was getting no video to the monitor. I tried a cold reboot to no avail, so I tried completely disconnecting the power for a bit and then booting and still no video. I checked the connections and tried different PCIe power connectors and still nothing. Tried a different PCIe port and the result was the same. I connected to the onboard i7 graphics on the motherboard and rebooted and that is working fine. Once in Windows I can see that Windows still sees this graphic card and I can use the monitoring software to see that it's still there and I can control the fans and everything, but nothing I do can get it to provide video anymore. If I switch the monitor back to the card and reboot it still displays no video, and I made sure the BIOS is set to use PCIe graphics over onboard. I even updated the BIOS to the latest version to see if that would help at all but still nothing. After the computer was off for the night I tried to boot it again with the video card connected to the monitor and I got graphics again .... for about 10 seconds. Then the monitor lost signal again and I'm right back to where I started. This is incredibly disappointing, particularly given I can't afford for my PC to be out of commission for a long period of time.

Works well, fairly easy to install and looks great with minimal cable clutter.

DEEPCOOL Castle 240EX, Addressable RGB AIO Liquid CPU Cooler, Anti-Leak Technology Inside, Cable Controller and 5V ADD RGB 3-Pin Motherboard Control, TR4/AM4 Supported
DEEPCOOL Castle 240EX, Addressable RGB AIO Liquid CPU Cooler, Anti-Leak Technology Inside, Cable Controller and 5V ADD RGB 3-Pin Motherboard Control, TR4/AM4 Supported

Pros: - Keeps the CPU nice and cool - Installation is relatively straight forward - Connectors for multiple socket types - Customizable logo in the pump - Anti-leak tech (hopefully I won't have to ever test this) - Pre-installed thermal paste

Cons: - Instructions are visual only, no descriptions or text - ASUS RGB connector is a 4-pin with one of the middle connectors filled to make it 3. If your board has 4 pins like mine then you can't use it and have to use the SATA connector instead. - Radiator with fans are quite fat so I ran in to clearance issues. Make sure you have about 50mm of space. - Thermal paste is already on so if you want to use your own you'll have to remove it first

Overall Review: It's a pretty good AIO cooler but the ASUS RGB compatibility has some flaws and won't work with all boards. If your board has a 4-pin connector the pump can not connect and you must use the SATA cable controller instead. I can't vouch for compatibility with the other brands.

Industry standard for a reason

Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G
Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G

Pros: You can't do much better than Arctic Silver 5. No matter what your cooler comes with, order this and use this instead. It's a proven standard for years and most builders use it for a reason. It's consistently one of the best and most reliable out there and very easy to work with.

Cons: Would be nice if it came with an applicator. Could just be a cardboard business card sort of thing (that's all I use). Usually you can find something, but it'd be nice if something came with it so you didn't have to dig around for something to use.

Good fast drive

WD Black 3TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD3003FZEX
WD Black 3TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD3003FZEX

Pros: Great drive that seems pretty fast and capable for an HDD. Obviously it is nowhere near the speed of an SSD, but if I benchmark this compared to my WD Green drive this one comes out on top easily.

Cons: As this drive doesn't hibernate or sleep as much as say, a WD Green, it does use more power in the long run. If you don't need the extra speed than this could be an issue, so if you just want to store media files than go with a cheaper drive like the Green. If you're doing something like gaming that's more drive intensive than this is worth the extra coin (and that extra cost is substantial).

Overall Review: This drive is a very capable drive, but also a very expensive drive. As with most things; make sure you need what you're paying extra for before you put in that order. Just storing pictures and music isn't going to require a more expensive drive like this.
