This review is from: StarTech USB 2.0 to Gigabit Ethernet NIC Network Adapter - Add Gigabit Ethernet to any USB 2.0 compatible PC or Laptop computer - USB to Gigabit Ethernet - USB 2.0 Gigabit Adapter - USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter - USB Network Adapter
Pros: No compatibility issues in Windows 10, just plug and play!
Faster network speed than other USB 2.0 adapters that are just fast ethernet, this one connects for gigabit speed, but you'll obviously not get gigabit speed with USB 2.0
Other Thoughts: bought this for use with my lenovo HDMI stick computer (Lenovo Ideacenter 300 stick). It has a USB 2.0 connection on it, so no sense buying a USB 3.0 adapter... The Lenovo's Wi-Fi anntenna is pretty weak, and I was not happy with it's network speed while it was set up behind my living room TV... so this was the perfect solution.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: RiteAV - 2 Port Cat6 Female-Female Wall Plate White
Pros: Being able to simply plug in a Cat6 cable on the back, instead of needing some wire stripper or a punch-down tool makes this super easy to install.
Other Thoughts: I was installing this on an outside wall of my house, so I was a little worried about space being cramped with the insulation in the wall behind the plate and a normal cable sticking straight out of the back of the plate. I used flat Cat6 cables to run up the wall, and those were super flexible so it wasn't really a problem. If I had used a less flexible cable it might've been a problem.. so food for thought.. consider what wall you're putting this on when choosing this plate and what cable you use.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: NETGEAR GS305 SOHO Ethernet Unmanaged 5-Port Gigabit Switch
Pros: Small form factor, means it can be easily stored away hidden and out of sight.
Works very well, no issues.
Good price for a name-brand gigabit switch
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: A while back a thunderstorm knocked out one of my Gigabit switches i was using at my computer desk to connect two computers and a network printer to my network. I had a Fast Ethernet switch laying around gathering dust, and used that to fill in.. it was find for most things, but copying large files across the network to/from those computers was painful... I finally got around to picking up this as a replacement. So happy I did! So much better performance when everything is on a Gigabit connection!READ FULL REVIEW
