COOLMAX CU series CU-700B 700W ATX12V SLI Ready Modular and Compatible with Core i3/i5/i7 Power Supply
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: More than enough power for a modern mid range gaming rig

Has lasted me 3+ years with constant heavy use

Cons: only 2 pcie

Other Thoughts: I've been running my i7930 with turbo on (3.1GHz), 6gb ddr3 1600, 1TB HD, and a 9800gtx+ for a couple of years. I wanted to pop in a 560ti to crank up the graphics on swtor, but I was concerned I would have to upgrade my power supply, considering the person below me said it wouldn't power their 6870. I took a chance knowing I would probably have to upgrade and bought an EVGA gtx 560ti 2gb. It's been running swtor quite beautifully for a week now with about 8 hours a day of play, no hiccups. I'm not claiming this power supply is on par with a corsair or seasonic, but it does get the job done and at a very reasonable price. I got mine at *fry's* a few years back for $35. Don't be deterred by other reviews, this power supply will easily run most mid to upper range gaming rigs. I'm tempted to throw in a gtx 580 and report back.
