This review is from: HGST Touro Desk Pro 4TB USB 3.0 3.5" External Hard Drive 0S03503 Black
Pros: Worked fine at first. After a month of use playing movies via XBMC, the device would become unresponsive. Had to reboot for it to work again. Happened several times. Past the 30 day return by a couple weeks, so had to RMA with HGST. Ill just crack the case and remove the drive this next time. Drive is probably fine, but it was running hot when i was using it, so ill take my chances on getting a refurb back from HGST.
Cons: Runs Hot
Had to reboot several times to get device to work again
Pros: I own 2 of these. One was purchased on 11/9/10 and the other 1/18/11. Both have been running fine. One is running as an internal drive and the newer one is running as an external in one of the VANTEC NST-360SU-BK via e-SATA.
Just saw this drive posted on a deal forum again and there was mention about a firmware update. Thought everyone that isnt aware of the update may want to know.
2 links were posted. Ill be updating my firmware shortly, but havent done so as yet. Do so at your own risk.
Dont think Newegg will allow posting of the links, so just search for them.

Pros: Put a Samsung F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM HD in and connected to my laptop via supplied e-Sata cable. Formatted via Win 7 Disc Management without issue.
Decent Read/Write speeds
HD Tune reported the following
HD Tune: SAMSUNG HD204UI Benchmark
Transfer Rate Minimum : 8.0 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Maximum : 139.6 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 94.0 MB/sec
Access Time : 16.0 ms
Burst Rate : 115.0 MB/sec
CPU Usage : -1.0%
Minimums were higher the 1st 3 times i ran it, then i kept getting spikes in the 6-8 MB/Sec range. Not sure whats up with that. Did not try USB yet.
Power and e-Sata cables seem to fit tight enough. Not sure what the other reviewers were complaining about.
Cons: I agree with the other reviews about the power brick being way to big.
It does take up 2 slots on the power strip.
Blue Logo is a little distracting at night. Ill either disconnect the LED cable or slap a piece of black electrical tape over it with a small hole.
Other Thoughts: I copied a 10GB video file to it in just under 2 minuets.
Average speed displayed in the copy file window was 84MB/Sec.
Copied it back in about the same time and speed was just a little quicker at 89MB/Sec
Hard Drive temp never got over 32C during both the file copy and the HD Tune benchmark tests.
Enclosure only felt a little warm during these tests.
A couple days ownership doesnt mean the thing is going to outlast or outperform other enclosures, but so far so good.
