Pros: Works with Fedora 16 linux (64bit) great, just plug in and it works. Also works with Windows XP (using driver from supplied CD)
Cons: Does not work with Ubuntu 11.10 or RHEL 6.2 (by simply pluging in and it works). Supplied CD has Windows drivers only, and no drivers on manufacturer website.
Other Thoughts: I am sure you could get it to work with other than Fedora linux distro's, but it would take some research and work, not just easy "plug and play".READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The Samsung ML-2545 is a good and well priced printer that works great for me in both Linux and Windows.
Cons: Its great that Samsung has linux support (drivers) on there website, but It seams that if you search the internet, many are having issues or confusion on what should be an easy and quick setup. I think it would be good for Samsung and its Linux customers if they would reveiw their application and provide some simple information on their website. see comments in "other thoughts"
Other Thoughts: The reason for me writing this review is only to possibly help other Linux users with pointers on installation. For Windows, you just use the supplied CD and everything is obvious. For Linux, most printers you just plug USB in and it just works (CUPS software detects, installs driver and completes set up to work), but with this model you need to download the “Unified Driver” from the Samsung website and extract file (it will make and be saved into a directory named cdroot) in order to GET ONLY TWO FILES (ML-2540spl.pdd and rastertosamsungsplc). NOTE DO NOT INSTALL the Samsung application, It will install a redundant application on the desktop which you don't need and did not work in my case (I am using RHEL 6.2 64-bit edition) and I had to uninstall (./uninstall.sh). All I needed to do was cd to the directory /cdroot/Linux/x86_64/at_root/usr/lib64/cups/filter/ and do the cmd as root “cp rastertosamsungsplc /usr/lib64/cups/filter/” then just plug in printer and computer will detecREAD FULL REVIEW
