Pros: Exceptional Specs.
Cons: While this machine certainly boasts some impressive specs, the life of this machine is questionable. It runs hot due to only having a single fan in the machine; the button for turning the fan up is louder than anything I've ever heard in my life. Seriously, it's like being in a wind tunnel. You can't appreciate just how loud it is unless you hear it with your own ears, and it's the only way you'll get this machine to run at safe temperatures.
The keyboard layout is not standard for the USA. The function and windows keys have been moved, the arrow keys are flush with the rest of the keys, the enter and shift keys are about half their normal width, and other keys such as navigational keys require using the function key. Trust me, you don't want to spend the time trying to adjust to this keyboard's layout if you've used computers for as long as myself.
The biggest issue for me however is the use of Optimus technology. I was not aware it used this. The laptop does not use the Nvidia card for most tasks and you cannot force it to do so no matter what you think you can try (BIOS, Nvidia Control Panel). This is confirmed by the manufacturer, so you can do some searches to verify this information. It will use the integrated Intel graphics for Windows and most applications, and only turns on for some games. I experienced issues with some games not being able to recognize the Nvidia card even existed in the machine and that was concerning.
Other Thoughts: I returned the machine. While I wanted to love this machine, the reality is having the best specs does not make for the best computer. It cost me quite a lot to return this machine, so I hope my review will help prevent someone else from making the same mistake as I did. Since it is suggested we not discuss competitors, I'll simply say that you should consider other options very carefully before choosing this one. This was the first time I tried MSI, and it will be the last. There is better out there.READ FULL REVIEW
