Pros: I have 3 OCZ ssds not counting this one. Two 120GBs in a raid0. One 180GB in wife's pc. The 180 is refurbished and has lasted one year an 8 months and counting (running 24 hours a day). One of the 120GBs in the raid0 is refurbished and going strong for a year. My original 120 is about 3 years old and still going in that raid0. I like OCZ. I bought a corsair and it is much slower.
Cons: I went to install windows and deleted the partition, now 3 different machines can see it. I have deleted partitions in the other drives i own with the same result but installing drivers has always fixed it. OCZ Toolbox does not see it either, even the bootable version. I have to rma to the manufacturer. Hope it goes well.
Other Thoughts: I gave 4 eggs mostly because it did work well up until I deleted the partition and my past experience with other my OCZ drives influenced me as well. Many bash OCZ, but for the price and longevity I have gotten, I cannot complain.
2 120GB ocz vertex3 max hops
1 180 ocz vertex 2
Pros: Windows initially detected it and it seemed to be working fine. Then it died. I would prefer to give it a review based on it's performance, but since I can't...
I deducted one egg due to rma. Unlike many others I don't like giving only one egg to a review just because of an rma. I deducted a second egg though because I don't want to pay shipping to send it back!
Cons: It's Green. (touch slower than my blacks), but nothing to complain about, Greens are still fast.
I made a new storage pool, but when I tried to use it, it was gone. I tried reboot and it wouldn't show up in windows or bios. I did a little troubleshooting and thought maybe storage spaces or cables was the culprit, since that was the last(only) thing I did. I opened storage spaces and it was gone, and I know I made it. Nothing! It was not to be found, no listing in disk management or bios. I changed power and sata cables. Thought I had found it for a second because in was now listed in the bios. But it still wasn't anywhere to be found in windows. I verified all my mobo setting and I ran the windows 8.1 install disk just to see if it would show there. It did. I deleted the partition and rebooted as I said eureka and broke out the bud, thinking it was fixed!
I smoked too soon. When I booted up it showed in disk management, but showing 0Gb total. When I tried to initialize it again I noticed grinding for a moment and then I got a redundancy error. rma...sucks!
Other Thoughts: One Final Note:
I will only buy Western Digital. All others I have tried fail with in a year, especially Maxtor and Seagate. Depending on how many drives fail me, I will stick with them, forever. Obviously, if it becomes extreme, I would have issues, but I have only had three rmas in 10 years. Two of which I sent to WD for warranty. No questions asked, they sent me another drive. This drive however was a 1.5TB drive but I sent them a 1TB drive. The 1.5TB failed after a month or so. Once again I sent it to WD, and they replaced it with a 2TB. I thought that was awesome. I have been running it everyday nonstop for a very long time without a hitch, a good 5 years ago and it still works perfectly. I also have two 640GB and a second green 2TB, along with many others I don't use anymore(80gb) simply die to size. They are all WD. Western Digital has taken good care of me, so far. I'm not going anywhere!
Pros: It still works. Runs very cool and quiet. I installed it and forgot it, no issues.
Cons: I want another one. Maxed out setting on COD Ghosts 45 fps. remove shadows and or lower anti-aliasing 90 fps steady.
Other Thoughts: I paid $229.99
Maxed out settings on COD Ghosts 45-55 fps.
Optimal setting by steam/game 90 fps steady.
