This review is from: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Memory for Apple Model FA-8500CL7D-8GBSQ
Pros: GSkill is usually great quality, and affordable.
Cons: My late 2008 Macbook (2 Ghz Core 2 duo) won't boot up. Although originally only compatible for a maximum of 4gb, it has been confirmed that with an updated bios, the late 2008 Macbook can support 8gb. https://discussions.apple.com/message/24234212?tstart=0#24234212?tstart=0
I bought a 8gb kit from Mushkin first because it was cheaper. The computer would boot up but after about 30 seconds I kept getting kernel panics (grey restart screen) found to be a common problem. So I returned it and tried G.Skill which has worked great for all my PC upgrades in the past.
With the GSkill installed, it won't boot up at all. I tried putting them in one at a time (with and without the stock ram) and every time I turned on the machine with any Gskill ram in it, it wouldn't boot up. (Black Screen. Beeps every 2 seconds or so).
So I put the stock ram back in and it boots up fine. Hopefully I can figure this out....
Other Thoughts: Is there a different ram that I should be looking at? What's the problem here? Both sticks can't be defective can they?READ FULL REVIEW
