This review is from: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This along with my i5 3570K cpu is a great match. Runs really cool, great amount of USB ports. Comes with USB 3 natively, Currently have my CPU at 4.1Ghz and neither my cpu or my motherboard are getting hot at all during load. Sata 3 now I can finally use my Vertex 4 SSD at full speeds. The motherboard itself has many features you just can't find on any other brands board.
Cons: Meh. One of the reasons I bought this board was because of the software features that came with the board. Now don't get me wrong they do work exactly as expected and then some. But they do tend to use up a large amount of my memory for them to be active in the background. I currently have 4GB of memory and on boot I'm sitting with 35-40+% always used. Now I had plans to upgrade to 8GB anyway so I can't remove an egg.
Other Thoughts: Overall the board itself is great. I bought this at a brick and mortar store that had a sale that if you buy an unlocked cpu you get $50 dollars off any Z77 board. I orignally was going to get just the P8Z77-v but after finding out about this deal I jumped up to the Pro and am loving it!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Runs incredibly cool with my old aftermarket cooler (Hyper 212+) OC'd it to 4.1Ghz without touching the voltage just to see if I could. Ran Prime95 for 8 hours and was fully stable. Compared to my i5 760 @ 3.47Ghz with the exact same cooler this runs way a good 5-8 degrees cooler and is way more efficient.
Other Thoughts: If your on a p55 motherboard or older and you were thinking of upgrading, now is the time. I plan on keeping this platform for many many years (5+) I can easily OC it higher if I want to. I was perfectly happy before with 3.47Ghz, Now I finally can surpass 4Ghz and it isn't even breaking a sweat.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Koutech PSA150 PCI SATA Controller Card
Pros: It works. Customer service with the company of this product was very helpful and very quick to answer my questions.
Cons: Wasn't as simple as plug n play. Had a lot of trouble at first getting the driver to install properly. Contacted support about my issues. Ended up being a windows error that was corrected later.
Other Thoughts: I don't have this in raid. My motherboard has 5 sata ports and 4 of them are used while the 5th one is defective. I needed one more sata port for my newest drive so I bought the cheapest solution I could get and am not regretting my purchase. It only works at SATA I speeds but on a regular mechanical hard drive you it performs just as fast as my other drives.
I have no plans to Raid yet. If I do I personally would buy a higher grade controller instead of using this. It only supports Raids 0/1. I personally would want Raid 5 when ever I feel liking moving to Raid.
