2.5M Ethernet Network Lan Cable(black color) elastic
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

2 out of 5 eggs Very Cheap 02/24/2015

This review is from: 2.5M Ethernet Network Lan Cable(black color) elastic

Pros: I like the locking mechanism and the length.

Cons: Very cheaply made. Within a week one of the locks had broken on the 7 I deployed in one conference room. Only capable of 100mps speeds. When you plug them in, it takes a long time for the computer to connect to the network.

Other Thoughts: I bought 25 of these for conference rooms. They are clean looking and I like that you pull them out and they lock. You retract them by sliding a little button, similar to retracting tape measure. It turns out, the lock is likely to be the first thing to break, making them pretty much useless to me. Also, when you plug them in, they take at least 30 seconds to connect the computer to the network. It may not seem like much, but 30 seconds of waiting in front of a customer is an eternity.

WD Red 3TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD30EFRX

5 out of 5 eggs Better Than I Could Have Hoped For 04/21/2014

This review is from: WD Red 3TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD30EFRX

Pros: Great performance and great reliability!

Cons: I have NOTHING bad to say about these drives.

Other Thoughts: I bought 4 of the 3Tb Reds for a media server that gets extremely high use. Before putting them in the box, I stress tested them for a week straight. I subjected them to conditions that should have fried them in a day. Max read and write, max spindle, temps up to 130C! I didn't care about the warranty, I wanted drives that could take a beating...and they did!..Those same drives that i abused for a week solid, are in the media server, in a closet that lives at about 95F, streaming media to a ton of people at the same time, flawlessly, for a year now. If you need large, high demand drives, that won't let you down, these are the ones!
