CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced - Gaming Mid Tower Computer Case with Carrying Handle and Windowed Side Panel - White
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Love the LED lights, and option to turn them off.
Black DVD drives blend in
Handle is great
Solid Construction
Front USB ports are nicely hidden
Overall a really nice quality case

Cons: Maybe I lost them but I do not think any instructions came with the case. Not that they usually say much, but still.

Other Thoughts: This is a great case. Buy one and enjoy your build and PC.

ASUS Z87-PRO LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

5 out of 5 eggs A great start to almost any build 04/02/2014

This review is from: ASUS Z87-PRO LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Well Made
Looks Great
Plenty of options, connections, ports, you name it
Easy to use BIOS
Built in WiFi and Bluetooth ! That is a huge plus.

Cons: The only issue I had is the I/O ports and the Shield did not go smoothly together. The shield is sort of flimsy compared to other boards I have had. And there are many ports to fit into the flimsy holes.
So you need to take your time and line it up well.

Also the wifi was not set up at boot up. So to get internet I had to load the included disc and load the wifi driver. Not too hard but not drop dead simple either. Not sure why it would not be activated out of the box.

Other Thoughts: I read HUNDREDS of reviews on moboards. I had thought of just doing a cheap build. After reading all the reviews and from my past experience I know the moboard is the key to any good computer.

So I decided to move up in range. This is my first ASUS moboard and the reviews and Newegg video sold me on this one. It is just right. Has plenty of options, but not over the top and too pricey.

Unless you are building a mega uber high end machine, this board will easily handle anything you can throw at it.

Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5

  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Installed in seconds. Worked fine out of box. No issues so far. I debated getting SSD and got this instead to save money. Fast enough for what I need. I put the machine to sleep usually so "boot up" takes 2 seconds anyway. Just plugged it in and it was recognized immediately and off it went.

Cons: Not a con really, but this is bare kit. Make sure you have cables. Nothing included in this but the drive. Not even screws.

Other Thoughts: After reading reviews I thought every hard drive was a piece of junk. I have had good luck with these drives and this one is no exception. If you don't need SSD, and with sleep mode I don't, save your money and get this. Don't believe all the reviews or you will never build anything. Have fun.
