Acer TravelMate P6 TMP633-M-6639 Intel Core i3 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 13.3

Pros: On March 2014 I bought two of the Acer TravelMate P6 P633-M-6639. I use one, and keep the other unused as a backup inc ase the first one fails.
A year and a half past that date, the first laptop stop charging with "blinking orange". The battery was keeping good charge (for a close to six hours), before that failure. The blink orange never occured before, but now it is blinking orange and there is no charge to the battery. Not even for 1 second. Can a battery go dead with seldom use? It was holding charge for 6 hours. I got the second laptop that I have as a backup,, and plugged it: it blinks orange with not charge. It is a new laptop bough the same date as the first, and it is not charging!

Cons: Acer engineer orchestrated a scam: forced a date-time chip to keep an expiration date to the battery of this model. The battery will stop charging regardless of its usage.
It looks like to force the consumer to buy a new battery after a year and a half (or 18 months). Quite an interesting prediction!

Other Thoughts: The blink orange with no battery charge is due to a programmed chip that keeps a date-time logic for the expiration of this laptop battery.
Laptop battery will expire not due to its number of time being charged, rather by the date being programmed internally on a chip.

Acer should have learned from HP to expire a device with a programmed chip. In the late 90's, HP was delivering color print cartridges for its ink jet series that expired by date, that is new cartridges will never work if they are used past a specific date.

Changing the date in the BIOS will not resolve the "blinking orange" and no charge, because the logic is integrated seperately and being itched in the batter chip and the computer charging chip.

ACER: HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT A NEW LAPTOP HAS THE SAME STATE "BLINKING ORANGE" WITH NO CHAGE AS ANOTHER, WHILE BOTH HAVE BEEN BOUGHT IN THE SAME TIME, AND THE BLINK ORANGE HAPPENED 18 MONTHS FROM THAT DATE?

Horrible company that forced expiration date on their battery with a prommable chip.

Pros: I just need to update my single egg review as the problem is not board related. One of the dimm was causing the issue and moving it to another socket resolved the issue. 5 stars.

Cons: .

Other Thoughts: running linux fedora w/o any issue. I hope Asrock continue producing this board.

1 out of 5 eggs dead after two months 09/13/2014

This review is from: ASRock X79 Extreme6 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Put in a system lightly used for about two months. Past two months this board failed giving hardware errors (see cons below).
I run Intel Fortran, ifort, and started to see strange results. It was hard to diagnose and point to the hardware causing the error. I swapped CPU and still get the same error.
I set the kernel in debug mode to find out the errors showing by the hardware.
Swapping the board with another of the same resolved the problem.

Cons: [Hardware Error]: MC2_STATUS[-|CE|-|-|AddrV]: 0x940000000000017a
[Hardware Error]: Bus Unit Error: EV error during data copyback.
[Hardware Error]: cache level: L2, tx: GEN, mem-tx: EV

Other Thoughts: The error shown above can be manifested on any system, but it is hidden, and certainly will not show up with Windows OS.
I suggest running prime to test the board while checking the result of each run.

RMA with ASRock can be a nightmare unless you have a dedicated secretary to follow up on the case. I get none, hence I threw this board in the garbage.
