Dual Power Suppies - The best thing ever

iStarUSA Storm S-6000-M Silver/ Blue Steel Server Computer Case 2 x 400W Redundant Power Supply
iStarUSA Storm S-6000-M Silver/ Blue Steel Server Computer Case 2 x 400W Redundant Power Supply

Pros: The redundant power supply thing is great. By far the best thing about this case. Did some testing with it in our offices, randomly shut off one power supply while the system was running. The power supply actually beeps, to tell you one power supply is dead. There is a green button on it that you can press to stop it from beeping, but the lights still flash. Swap it out with a new one, if needed, and flip it back on. All while windows is running, and is none the wiser. Greatest thing ever.

Cons: This case, is the most annoying to put together ever. Ok, im exaggerating a bit. But compared to other cases both me and my co-workers have worked with, its annoying. At least for the first build with it. Trying to figure out what gimmick they have to make building easier. Like it was so difficult to screw a hard drive into a chassis? Did that need changing? But even still, the redundant power supplies, with the case, at such a good price, make this not hurt its rating.

Overall Review: Buy this case for the power supplies, its worth it to deal with it being a pain to work with. (And like i said, im definately exaggerating it a bit). Yes you can get redundant power supplies by themseleves and put them in any case, but you'd pay more for the power supply alone, than you would for this combo. Great deal, great unit. As long as this company stays around so we can order replacements when modules die.

Definitely a Problem

Airnet Broadband Router AER014 Broadband Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: Read Review

Cons: The one egg is to offset my other 5 egg reviews. This router is perfect in every way... except for its one big problem.

Overall Review: This is an update to my previous reviews. After getting a second router, the disconnect issue still exists. Also, a friend of mine, who i told to order one of these, has the same issue, so that's 3 so far. Seems to be a problem with the router itself, and there is no updated firmware on their website, which is airnetusa.com. Im going to talk to their tech support, and see if anything can be done, but will most likely be rma-ing these. If you dont want to be disconnected from the internet every 20 minutes or so, dont get this router. And if you dont think your router is doing it, do a ping -t of an internet address for an hour or so. If it drops a few packets, then your router has the problem. You may not notice it with regular internet use, or, you may just shrug it off when you occaisonally run into it. But for some people, its very annoying. Oh, and I have cable, not dsl, so I do not use PPPoE.

Pros: Already Covered

Cons: Already Covered

Overall Review: Alright, this is an update to my earlier review. After owning this router for almost a month, I have found an issue. As a couple of other people have stated (mostly people running games), my router disconnects every 20-40 minutes, only for a second or two. This is something that some people may not notice. People playing games definitivley would. I notice because my aim client disconnects, and keeps logs. It is kind of annoying. Im hoping its just mine, and that this isnt some kind of broader defect. I will rma it, and post another review after having the replacement for a few weeks.

Best Router Ever

Airnet Broadband Router AER014 Broadband Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: 100mb wan port (for those of us to be blessed with a really fast connection), Extremely easy to use web interface, dhcp reservations, mac filtering, firewall is extrememly customizable.

Cons: The only, and I must stress only, downside I see so far, is the appearance. Can I really complain? No. The router is amazing, and I could care less. That said.... come on guys, creme color? Who does that anymore? haha. Ill probably end up painting it black myself. Or magic markering it up.

Overall Review: Have I mentioned how great this router is? Alright, So I will stress, Ive only had this router for one day. I will write another review after about a week or so, but so far i am amazed. If you liked the way linksys routers used to be, before they started sucking, then get this. Its the best Ive found out there these days. Im a computer person, but when i see an interface thats more complicated than it needs to be, it pxsses me off. This one could not be simpler and more straight forward. And at this price, how can you loose?

Good, Stable, Hassle Free in my situations

SOLTEK SL-K890Pro-939 939 VIA K8T890 ATX AMD Motherboard
SOLTEK SL-K890Pro-939 939 VIA K8T890 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Two raid controllers, pci express, gigabit ethernet

Cons: Slight detail needed for the promise raid controller bios. The promise controller must be set to raid mode in the bios for the drivers to install correctly in windows, odd, but the only minor adjustment ive ever needed. If you're not using the promise raid you can always disable it.

Overall Review: This board is great. As others have said, if you want a board that has few stupid little compatability\stability issues, and is hassle free as they get, this board is great. I can only go by my own experiences. Ive used both the via and the promise raid controllers, and both are amazing. Used via in the past and loved it, but the promise is even better. Ive never used the pci express for high end video, so i cant speak for that, it may have issues. Ive used this board for just workstations, or servers. Requires very little messing with, which is the best part. As a side note, what ive done to be able to boot off the promise raid without having to load f6 drivers, is install windows to a single drive on the via controller, then move that drive, and its soon-to-be mirror over to the promise, raid 1 them, it copies the data over for you, and you're done. Booting off the promise array like a charm just as quick and smooth running as the fresh format it came from.

Pros: Quick, as to be expected.

Cons: Died after 2 months

Overall Review: I have to say, im very surprised. I've ordered countless amd processors before in my experience. This is the first one, ever, that has died on me. I suppose, one out of over a hundred, is a pretty good track record, especially compared to other pieces of hardware. I just thought id mention it. AMD is not invincable.
